Description
The ETSU College of Nursing, Office of Practice invites applications for a full-time Registered Nurse to support the Hancock County Elementary School-Based Health Center located in Sneedville, TN.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable to the Clinical Director and/or Nurse Manager for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with established nursing protocols. The RN ensures the evidence-based application of nursing principles, prioritizes patient safety, and provides comprehensive patient education. This role involves utilizing clinical expertise to promote health, prevent disease, and support recovery. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the overall mission of care.
Eligible for $1,500.00 Sign-On Bonus - $500.00 after 30-days of continual employment. $1,000.00 after 6-months of continued employment within the CON OOP department as an initial sign-on retention bonus. A sign-on bonus is not eligible with transferring or being promoted to a new position within the CON OOP.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of advanced nursing skills and techniques.
Knowledge of current developments in health-related areas.
Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding patient care.
Ability to operate equipment including: computer, autoclave, centrifuge, microscope, cash register, blood pressure units, otoscope, ophthalmoscope, electric thermometers, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with university personnel at various levels, students, parents, representatives of the community, and the medical community.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
Ability to keep records and reports.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Nursing.
One (1) year of clinical nursing experience.
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in TN or compact/multistate by time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Experience in ambulatory care.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job across various settings in the classroom, simulation, clinical, and/or community. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and balance. The employee may occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, and/or move more than 100 pounds. The employee must be able to perceive and respond to sounds and alarms; communicate effectively with others; and have a sufficient vision regarding near, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception as well as the ability to observe and monitor situations in full and dimmed light. The employee may stand, walk, and/or sit in various settings for up to 7.5 hours at a time in addition to the preparation and closure of a clinical shift. Rapid mobility may also be required on occasion. Physical expectations of an assigned clinical facility may vary and be subject to change.
Stress levels may be high due to frequently dealing with numerous students, patients, family members, and other healthcare providers. This position demands concentration and the ability to work in emotionally-charged situations.
