Description POSITION SUMMARY Huston-Tillotson University (HT), Austin's oldest institution of higher learning, seeks a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering to join our dedicated faculty. This is a unique opportunity to help build and shape a new, vibrant Mechanical Engineering program within the School of Business and Technology. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Teach a variety of undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, including core subjects like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, and machine design. Develop and implement new curricula, laboratory exercises, and innovative teaching methods that enhance student learning and engagement. Conduct research in a relevant mechanical engineering field and actively involve undergraduate students in research project s. Advise and mentor students, guiding them in their academic and professional development. Participate in service activities for the department, university, and professional community. Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in the field. Qualifications Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Masters in mechanical engineering will be considered. Preferred: Prior university-level teaching experience. Professional experience in an engineering-related fi eld. Experience with online and hybrid course delivery methods. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. A strong research background with the potential to secure external funding. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse back grounds. Commitment to the mission and values of Huston-Tillotson University. SUPERVISION This position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and Technology SALARY RANGE $70,000 - $80,000 annually, plus benefits! POSITION STATUS Full-time; in-person.
