Quanta’s focus on the utility industry and HBK’s focus on constructability in our designs has made our integration into the Quanta family of companies seamless.</p>\n<h2>About this Role</h2>\n<p>An Engineering Specialist at HBK Engineering is a position that combines advanced technical expertise with team leadership responsibilities. This role involves applying broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices while independently evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques and procedures to address unique and complex electrical, structural, civil, and construction-related challenges. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred for this position. Additionally, candidates are required to have proven experience working on utility or roadway design projects. The position includes acting as a team lead in coordinating detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering work, with direct client interface responsibilities and quality control oversight. <strong>Location: Chicago, IL; Denver, CO and Spring, TX</strong></p>\n<h2>What You'll Do</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Design engineering systems in compliance with relevant specifications, codes, and client requirements for overhead and subsurface utility projects. </li>\n <li>Proven experience working on utility or roadway design projects is required</li>\n <li>Apply broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to ensure design compliance with relevant specifications, codes, and client requirements. </li>\n <li>Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to address unique and complex electrical, structural, civil, and construction-related challenges. </li>\n <li>Act as a team lead in the coordination of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering work. </li>\n <li>Train entry-level staff. </li>\n <li>Perform quality control reviews of engineering designs under the oversight of professional engineering staff. </li>\n <li>Interface with clients to discuss engineering topics within their area of expertise and to provide support to the engineering team. </li>\n <li>Prepare detailed engineering and construction documents using a variety of software tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS systems, and client-specific enterprise asset management platforms. </li>\n <li>Analyze information from supplementary data sources including topographical survey, utility atlas information, field sketches, client records, manufacturer equipment datasheets, etc. </li>\n <li>Prepare reports and studies meeting client requirements that present technical information clearly and concisely. </li>\n <li>Work with project management and engineering leadership to manage project risk. </li>\n <li>Communicate complex engineering matters to internal project management, engineering leadership, and field resources. </li>\n <li>Independently manage time and schedule to achieve project milestones. </li>\n <li>Perform field walkdowns with internal staff, clients, customers, governance authorities, and construction partners. </li>\n <li>Travel as needed, typically <25%. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What You'll Bring</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred. </li>\n <li>Typically 4+ years of relevant experience</li>\n <li>Proven experience working on utility or roadway design projects is required. </li>\n <li>US driver's license and US work authorization</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams</li>\n <li>Strong technology skills and understanding of the Office365 suite of tools</li>\n <li>In-depth knowledge of 2D CADD software (AutoCAD or similar) including generating layout drawings and project materials</li>\n <li>Experience reviewing drawings or engineering materials developed by others</li>\n <li>Training experience with entry- and mid-level staff</li>\n <li>Understanding of remote communication software</li>\n <li>Ability to quickly come up to speed on in-process projects and hit the ground running</li>\n <li>Experience collaborating with teams to complete larger projects</li>\n <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills suited for both internal and external conversations</li>\n <li>Persistence to see projects through to completion</li>\n <li>Adaptability to change in a dynamic team environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What You'll Get</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Leadership opportunities as team lead for detailed design coordination</li>\n <li>Direct client interface responsibilities within area of expertise</li>\n <li>Professional growth with broad application of engineering principles and practices</li>\n <li>Quality control review experience under professional engineering supervision</li>\n <li>Training and mentorship responsibilities for entry-level staff</li>\n <li>Advanced project management and risk management experience</li>\n <li>Enhanced client communication and technical reporting responsibilities</li>\n <li>Field experience through walkdowns and stakeholder interactions</li>\n <li>Travel opportunities for project work and professional development</li>\n <li>Collaborative work environment with project management and engineering leadership</li>\n <li>Clear career progression pathway within the HBK Organization's Engineering Track</li>\n <li>Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability and employer paid life insurance.
