TPS teachers believe deeply in the importance of the social and emotional development of young people and are committed to demonstrating that belief daily. Our teachers truly care about using every moment of every day to help our scholars grow, both personally and academically. They are able to bring their lessons and materials to life, engaging their scholars and demanding the highest results. TPS teachers are supportive, thoughtful, creative, relentless, and unbelievably motivated. They work together, learn from each other, and do whatever it takes, day in and day out, to make sure their scholars succeed. RESPONSIBILITIES Build strong relationships with scholars, families, administrators, and PATH team members. Display an understanding of The PATH School's vision, mission, and core values. Invest in the learners’ well-being, health, and safety, physically, socially, and emotionally. Explore resources, materials, tools, and information to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources. Provide direct instruction in whole-class, small-group, and individual settings. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to students. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula. Complete assessments, reports, grading, planning, and conferences with students, staff, and families within appropriate timelines. Administer standardized ability and achievement tests and interpret results to determine student strengths and areas of need. Use a variety of instructional methodologies, culturally responsive pedagogy, and curriculum resources to present material in an engaging, stimulating, and effective manner. Ensure proper implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessment, Behavior Intervention Plans, Individualized Education, and 504 programs. Communicate with parents/guardians regularly to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Manage scholar behavior and maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and systems of the school. Perform administrative duties, such as assisting in hall and cafeteria monitoring, and bus loading and unloading. Other duties as assigned. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS Valid Indiana Teaching License or seeking reciprocation (Required) Bachelor’s degree (Required) Pass a criminal background check (Required) The ability to develop caring relationships with scholars and families Experience in analyzing student data and using data to inform instruction Possess strong knowledge and passion for content areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, and Phonics Excellent communication, superior listening skills, organizational skills, and decision-making ability EXPECTATIONS Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence. Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including two weeks during the summer and weekly department meetings Attend and participate in events outside of normal school hours (ex. family nights, student performances, field trips, family conferences, Back-to-School Nights, etc.).
