    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Position: </strong>Day Camp Counselor</p>\n<p><strong>Department:</strong> Reading Corps - Learning Center</p>\n<p><strong>Availability of Position: </strong>06/22/2026-8/14/2026</p>\n<p><strong>Schedule: </strong>8:00 AM – 4:30 PM M-F</p>\n<p><strong>Reporting Relationship: </strong>Youth Ministry Coordinator / Corps Officers</p>\n<p><strong>Salary and Grade: </strong>$14.00/Hour; Full-Time; Seasonal</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Position Overview:</strong> Provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Summer Day Camp program.  Counselors are responsible for leading the group of children in assigned activities and implementing discipline procedures.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Description of Position:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead children through activities with enthusiasm and assist with presenting daily programs offered: organized activities, theme activities, devotions, etc.</li>\n <li>Consistently adhere to and implement the process for child release from the program to the parent or authorized guardian.</li>\n <li>Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining an environment conducive to fun and safety for all campers.</li>\n <li>Initiate and maintain positive relationships with all staff, guests, children, and parents/guardians.</li>\n <li>Work in a team environment and communicate with Youth Ministry Coordinator daily regarding concerns/issues with the program, children, parents, or co-workers.</li>\n <li>Assist in maintaining clean-up schedules to maintain the cleanliness of the building, including completion of the task listed on the daily clean-up list.</li>\n <li>Role model dignity and respect for others at all times. Actively participate while encouraging children in activities.</li>\n <li>Ensure that all staff and children respect the property and that all rules and regulations are followed.</li>\n <li>Any other duties as shall be required by the supervisor under the guidance of the Corps Commanding Officer.</li>\n <li>Support and affirm the mission of The Salvation Army while on Salvation Army services.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><em> </em><em>The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as reasonably expected within the post’s scope.</em></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Requirements: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>At least 18 years of age and experience working with children.</li>\n <li>Be reliable and dependable.</li>\n <li>Work schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs </li>\n <li>Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
