Collaborates with leadership and external partners to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant student transportation across public and special education services.</p><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">&nbsp;</p><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\"><strong>Education and Work Experience</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">Education:&nbsp;<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\"><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">High School diploma required.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Public Administration, GIS, Urban Planning, or related field preferred.</p></li></ul></li><li style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">Experience:&nbsp;<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\"><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school transportation or a related field.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">Other Requirements:</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\"><li class=\"ortl-align-justify\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.</span></p></li><li class=\"ortl-align-justify\"><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Commercial Class B driver’s license preferred or willingness to obtain.</span></p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">Willingness to complete additional training as required.</p></li></ul></li></ul></li></ul><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 8pt;\"><strong>Essential Duties</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Assists the Director of Transportation in managing safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation systems.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Plans and maintains school bus routes using routing software and GIS technology.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Establishes and monitors bus stops for safety compliance and makes necessary adjustments.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Supervises assigned bus contractors, drivers, and attendants, including performance evaluations and policy compliance.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Conducts school bus evaluations and inspections; responds to accidents and transportation-related complaints.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Investigates driver performance, student behavior, and stop-related concerns; advises on resolution strategies.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Conducts and monitors school bus evacuation drills and oversees school bus safety equipment compliance.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Coordinates with school administrators and serves as liaison to parents, community members, and staff.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Assesses road and weather conditions and assists in operational decision-making during inclement weather.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Inputs, updates, and maintains student transportation data in routing systems and supports integration with CCPS platforms.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Maintains and updates school zone maps and the public-facing school locator portal.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Drafts and edits departmental communications, policy documents, and handbooks.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Manages the department website and ticketing system; assists with MSDE reports and documentation.</p></li><li><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in;\">Performs other duties as assigned by the Transportation Manager or Director of Transportation.</p></li></ul><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\">&nbsp;</p><p style=\"line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0in; margin-top: 0in;\"><strong>ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS &amp; PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong><br>The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
