Under the guidance of the RCMP Members responsible for Cell Block Operations, you will be entrusted with the safety and well-being of persons in custody, along with other key duties.</p><p><strong>Important:</strong> Applicants must reside within a 60-minute drive of the detachment.</p><h3><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong></h3><ul><li><b>Surveillance:</b> Regularly observe and check prisoners, including monitoring via CCTV. </li><li><b>Assistance:</b> Aid RCMP members as required and manage meal organization. </li><li><b>Record Keeping:</b> Maintain a detailed prisoner activity logbook. </li><li><b>Cell Maintenance:</b> Ensure cleanliness of cells and conduct searches before and after occupation, reporting any damage. </li><li><b>Security:</b> Maintain cellblock security, ensuring cell doors are always locked and personal effects are secured. </li><li><b>Fire Safety:</b> Monitor and adhere to fire safety protocols. </li><li><b>Medical and Laundry:</b> Handle and dispense approved medications and laundry items under direction of RCMP members.</li><li><b>Miscellaneous:</b> Perform additional duties as required by the detachment. </li></ul><h3><strong>Qualifications</strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Age Requirement:</strong> Must be 19 years or older.</li><li><strong>Certification:</strong> Valid Basic First Aid certificate or willingness to complete prior to hiring.</li><li><strong>Clearance:</strong> Ability to obtain RCMP Reliability Clearance (4-6+ months process).</li><li><strong>Language:</strong> Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).</li><li><strong>Vision:</strong> Meet RCMP-V4 visual standards (eyeglasses permitted).</li><li><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong> Ability to lift up to 20 kg, bend, and climb stairs.</li><li><strong>Skills:</strong> Ability to remain calm under stress, work independently, and be discreet.</li></ul><h3><strong>Rewards and Perks</strong></h3><ul><li><b>Training:</b> Detention guard training provided and other training opportunities within in the organization. </li><li><b>Flexibility:</b> Enjoy a flexible work schedule that supports a great work-life balance. </li><li><b>Recognition:</b> Participate in our recognition programs. </li><li><b>Uniforms:</b> Receive free uniforms. </li><li><b>Career Advancement:</b> Ideal for those seeking additional income or experience in law enforcement or criminal justice.</li></ul>",
