    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "This Opportunity\n<p>This position will provide you with the opportunity to grow your technical knowledge of structural engineering and develop your project management experience on bridge projects.&nbsp;It will also provide you with the opportunity to be involved in exciting projects with our<span> </span>Bridge<span> </span>Team<span> </span>and be a part of a growing organization that meets our&nbsp;clients’&nbsp;objectives&nbsp;and solves their challenges.&nbsp;<br><span> </span>&nbsp;<br>\n  WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior <strong>Structural/Bridge Engineer </strong>for our <strong>Lansing or</strong> <strong>Detroit MI offices.&nbsp; </strong>This position is best suited for an engineer who is seeking an opportunity to work within a team-focused local office, with the resources and support of a large world-wide engineering firm. Tasks may include assisting with concept development, planning, design, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, substantiates reports and documentation regarding material, installations, and construction specifications, and ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality. Join us and help shape the future!&nbsp;</p>Your Impact\n<ul>\n <li>Lead design, plan development&nbsp;tasks&nbsp;and perform structural analysis and design with a concentration on Michigan highway structures&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Actively&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;project scope, design changes and project budget and schedule while assigned to projects&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Mentoring, training and development of staff and others performing similar work&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ability to provide close coordination with others on the project as well as independent QC/QA reviews&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Work with marketing staff to contribute to and/or lead technical proposals.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Representing&nbsp;WSP at targeted professional society meetings, including presenting at conferences as&nbsp;appropriate&nbsp;and approved&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>Who You Are\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering</li>\n <li>P.E. registration in Michigan and ability to&nbsp;acquire&nbsp;in other states&nbsp;</li>\n <li>5 to 10 years of relevant post education experience in Structural Engineering with an emphasis on bridges</li>\n <li>Strong technical skills and background in bridge design</li>\n <li>Accustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects and leading design teams in delivering high quality projects</li>\n <li>Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience</li>\n <li>Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC</li>\n <li>Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, , ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS), technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools</li>\n <li>Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies</li>\n <li>Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek</li>\n <li>Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements</li>\n <li>Master’s Degree in Engineering.</li>\n <li>40-Hour OSHA Health &amp; Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.</li>\n <li>Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Familiarity with MDOT Design Standards</li>\n <li>Experience serving as the lead engineer or with managing small to mid-size projects</li>\n</ul>\n<p>#LI-SM1</p>\n<p><br>\n  &nbsp;</p>",
