    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">FLSA Status:</span> Non-Exempt</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Grade:</span> 8 </span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Position Summary</span><br><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">Performs a wide range of locksmith and electronic access system duties, including the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of all types of locks and integrated security systems, access control devices and other types of lock hardwood such as latches, door checks, and panic bars, including changing of lock combinations and making of keys. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">Locksmithing includes, doors, and hardware; opening of locks on doors and safes; and the changing of lock combinations; performs a full range of locksmith assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations.</span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Essential Job Duties</span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by positions in this job classification. Not all </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">duties assigned to every position are included, nor is it expected that all positions will be assigned every duty.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Installs all types of locks and integrated security systems, access control devises and lock hardware, including </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">panic bars, and performs the carpentry necessary for such installation. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Works directly with outsource vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot existing and new systems. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Installs and maintains electrical access and exit control systems.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Adjusts, maintains, repairs, and replaces door locks, padlocks, tumbler locks, combination locks, and various </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">other lock hardware such as panic bars, door checks, latches, catches, fasteners, and door closures. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Designs grand master key systems which include: master and sub-masters and maintains records of system. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Redesigns lock cylinders. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Operates key-cutting machines.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Changes lock combinations and enters numbers of lockers and combination in an official register. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Changes lock combination using code systems and code machines. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Repairs safes and safe-locking systems. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Works with college staff in devising systems to prevent break-ins and pilferage.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Opens or removes locks which cannot be opened by ordinary means.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Safely operates hand and power tools and equipment used in the locksmithing trade. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• May use a lathe, drill press, and other power tools in forming parts for locks, lock hardware, and/or safes. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• May assist in preparing routine reports, material lists, estimating job costs, preparing job records, and making </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">surveys of locksmith needs. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• May provide work direction to staff assigned to perform locksmith work.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Performs related duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant or designee. </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Repairs and opens locks and safes.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Disassembles locks such as padlocks, safe locks, and door locks, and repairs or replaces worn tumblers, springs, </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">and other parts.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Changes pin lock cylinders and safe combinations.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Removes broken keys and repairs malfunctioning locks.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Maintains combination records.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Installs and repairs locks on furniture, cabinets and other items.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Fits and installs doors and related hardware.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Installs or repairs hydraulic door closers and electronic door operators using hand and power tools.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Installs, repairs, and maintains electronic access control systems, components and hardware.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Orders parts and supplies.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.</span></p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">• OR, Graduation from high school or its equivalent and five years of full-time, paid experience in the locksmithing </span><br><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12pt\">trade under the supervision of a journeyman or crafts supervisor.
