    "description_html": "<div class=\"job_description\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></h2><h3><strong>Degree / Education / Certification</strong></h3><ol><li><p>The Physician shall have successfully completed:</p><ul><li><p>An accredited Undergraduate Program</p></li><li><p>Medical School (M.D. or D.O.)</p></li><li><p>Internship</p></li><li><p>Residency Program</p></li></ul></li><li><p>Eligible candidates shall be&#160;<strong>Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Surgery</strong>&#160;by the American Board of Surgery.</p></li><li><p>Must maintain current:</p><ul><li><p><strong>Basic Life Support (BLS)</strong></p></li><li><p><strong>Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)</strong>&#160;(if required by the client)</p></li></ul></li></ol><hr><h3><strong>Experience</strong></h3><ul><li><p>A minimum of&#160;<strong>one (1) year of clinical experience</strong>&#160;within the preceding&#160;<strong>three (3) years</strong>&#160;in the specialty of Pediatric Surgery.</p></li></ul><hr><h3><strong>Licensure</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Possession of a&#160;<strong>valid, unrestricted medical license</strong>&#160;in at least one (1) U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth.</p></li><li><p>Physician must, at minimum, be&#160;<strong>Board Eligible</strong>.</p></li></ul><hr><h2><strong>Other Required Qualifications</strong></h2><p>The Contractor Health Care Provider (HCP) shall:</p><ol><li><p>Be able to&#160;<strong>read, write, speak, and understand English</strong>&#160;sufficiently to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.</p></li><li><p>Be knowledgeable in&#160;<strong>medical equipment and supply terminology</strong>, with skills sufficient to identify, utilize, and instruct others in proper use.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate skill in&#160;<strong>patient education</strong>, including motivating patients and family members in self-care and recovery processes.</p></li><li><p>Possess knowledge and skills necessary to provide care across all age-related populations, including&#160;<strong>infants, children, and adolescents</strong>, and demonstrate understanding of&#160;<strong>growth and development principles</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Be a&#160;<strong>United States citizen</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Maintain a&#160;<strong>current DEA registration number</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrate competency in&#160;<strong>patient interviewing, examination, assessment, diagnosis, and management</strong>&#160;of general medical and surgical conditions.</p></li><li><p>Manage seriously ill patients through consultation with or referral to appropriate specialists.</p></li><li><p><strong>Reside within a 65-mile radius of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).</strong></p></li></ol><hr><h2><strong>Scope of Work &#8212; Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></h2><p>The On-Call Pediatric Surgeon shall provide comprehensive pediatric surgical services in accordance with Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) policies, standing orders, and clinical protocols, including but not limited to:</p><ol><li><p>Perform the&#160;<strong>full range of general pediatric surgical services</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Obtain patient histories and conduct comprehensive examinations.</p></li><li><p>Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including laboratory and imaging.</p></li><li><p>Diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate medications, diets, and treatment plans.</p></li><li><p>Supervise and collaborate with nursing and clinical staff.</p></li><li><p>Operate under the general professional supervision of the&#160;<strong>Chief of Pediatric Surgical Services</strong>.</p></li><li><p>Provide recommendations regarding policy and program improvements related to pediatric surgical services.</p></li><li><p>Conduct inpatient rounds as required.</p></li><li><p>Provide consultation and serve in a&#160;<strong>teaching capacity</strong>&#160;for MTF staff and clinic personnel.</p></li><li><p>Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and patient records.</p></li><li><p>Provide expert opinions upon request by supervising physicians.</p></li><li><p>Complete&#160;<strong>Fitness for Duty Evaluations</strong>&#160;IAW AR 40-501 and all Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) documentation.</p></li><li><p>Provide medical care during assigned duty hours, including routine call coverage and emergency response, and complete all charting within&#160;<strong>72 hours</strong>&#160;IAW Joint Commission guidelines.</p></li><li><p>Perform additional administrative and clinical functions as required, including schedule management, consult review, peer reviews, staff meetings, equipment oversight, compliance with SOPs, and mandatory training.</p></li></ol>",
