Description

Accurately performs routine and clinical laboratory tests in the Core Laboratory (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Microbiology). Individual must possess strong technical background and excellent written and oral communication skills. Has the capacity to operate clinical laboratory equipment in the completion of automated and manual procedures. Experience with Beckman Coulter, Abbott, and Siemens instrumentation preferred. This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently. The employee must be able to demonstrate efficient laboratory testing techniques, and quality control while maintaining acceptable turn-around-time and compliance. The employee must be able to effectively communicate in English for training, responding to inquiries, and reporting purposes. RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform testing as assigned. Perform required Quality Control testing. Perform Proficiency Testing when assigned. Review Patient Reports as testing occurs to perform repeat analysis, if required. Monitor supply inventories to assure they are adequate for the workload. Perform routine instrument maintenance as required. Review and assist in updating of Standard Operating Procedures. Report concerns to Laboratory Management on the status of testing, as required. Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
