    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Machinist I produces replacement metal parts, shaping new parts and operating standard machine tools like lathes, mills, and grinders, following detailed blueprints.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Produces replacement and new parts in making repairs of metal components of mechanical equipment</li>\n <li>Work involves most of the following: interpreting written instructions and specifications, planning and laying out of work, using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments, setting up and operating standard machine tools </li>\n <li>Accurately interprets engineering drawings and specifications to determine machining operations and tolerances</li>\n <li>Responsible for the shaping of metal parts to close tolerances, making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds of machining; knowledge of the working properties of the common metals, selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment required for this work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment</li>\n <li>Performs basic in-process checks using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet quality standards</li>\n <li>Performs routine cleaning and lubrication of machines, identifying and reporting any potential issues</li>\n <li>Loads and unloads materials onto machines safely</li>\n <li>The machinist's work generally requires a well-rounded training in machine-shop practice, usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>This is based off a level one minimum -- we are open to higher levels as well. </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED required</li>\n <li>Technical or Military School Training preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Two years related experience required</li>\n <li>Ability to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and perform basic mathematical calculations</li>\n <li>High level of precision and accuracy when measuring and machining parts </li>\n <li>Ability to lift and manipulate heavy materials </li>\n</ul>\n<p>Any combination of education/experience may be substituted for job requirements at the recommendation of the hiring manager and approval of the COO or higher.</p>",
