With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.</p>\n<p><strong>Role description:</strong></p>\n<p>Arcadis is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join an established and growing multi-national mining engineering team. As the selected candidate, you will provide technical leadership for projects across the United States (US), Canada, Chile, and other locations. This position can report to any of our Mountain West US offices and offers flexibility through hybrid work arrangements. This position requires approximately 10% travel.</p>\n<p>In this position, you will lead geotechnical engineering on surface mining projects, including tailings facilities and open pits. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Arcadis teams in the U.S. and internationally to develop and deliver sustainable mining solutions that drive environmental and operational improvements. Diverse project opportunities include mine reclamation engineering and other environmental projects such as sediment remediation and water dam design and evaluation. Work will entail a mixture of geotechnical investigations, geotechnical evaluations, feasibility studies, design, and construction quality assurance.</p>\n<p><strong>Role accountabilities:</strong></p>\n<p>Provide leadership to our Geotechnical Engineering community and Mining Sector Team through an understanding of technical principals and current and future market conditions which support Arcadis positioning for growth</p>\n<p>Act as or become an Engineer of Record (EoR) on appropriate projects or have served as a Deputy EoR on mine projects</p>\n<p>Supporting business development by identifying and pursuing growth opportunities with existing and new clients.</p>\n<p>Use excellent communication skills to represent Arcadis to external teams and clients and to effectively engage Arcadis teams</p>\n<p>Provide leadership to engineering project teams by defining project goals, constraints, and managing external inputs and apply sound decision making to deliver informed technical solutions</p>\n<p>Perform geotechnical engineering reviews and provide key input on critical projects</p>\n<p>Apply engineering principles and an understanding of mine operations to develop effective solutions to our clients’ biggest challenges</p>\n<p><strong>Preferred technical proficiencies:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Mine tailings and water dam siting, design and evaluations</li>\n <li>Mine high wall investigations and slope stability analysis</li>\n <li>Direct and support Dam Safety Reviews</li>\n <li>Geotechnical investigation, monitoring methods and techniques</li>\n <li>Soft-ground mechanics and stabilization techniques</li>\n <li>Strong written and verbal communication</li>\n <li>Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Experience:</strong></p>\n<p>Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>B.S. degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related field</li>\n <li>Professional Engineer (PE) license</li>\n <li>Minimum 15 years of experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Preferred:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Post graduate degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or closely related field</li>\n <li>&nbsp;Direct experience with geotechnical modeling software such as GeoStudio, RocScience, FLAC, PLAXIS, etc.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, Arc Map, or similar geospatial software</li>\n <li>Spanish language proficiency not a requirement but a plus to work with international teams</li>\n</ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\">Why Arcadis?</p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\">We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
