This role operates cleaning and sterilization equipment and prepares supplies and instruments for both steam and low‑temperature sterilization.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Effectively decontaminates instruments and equipment according to department procedures.</li>\n <li>Accurately performs prep functions including instrument set assembly, wrapping, labeling, and identification of all items processed in SPD.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates knowledge of all instruments and equipment processed through SPD.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates knowledge of proper loading and operation of sterilizers and other equipment.</li>\n <li>Prepares case carts accurately and delivers within adequate time for case setup.</li>\n <li>Promptly stores sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment in the proper locations after processing.</li>\n <li>Performs biological testing/sterility assurance tasks accurately.</li>\n <li>Maintains biological test log and other sterilization records keeping.</li>\n <li>Knows procedure for load recall in the event of a positive biological test.</li>\n <li>Responds promptly and positively to all customer requests.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.</li>\n <li>One of the following certifications is required:\n  <ul>\n   <li>CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)</li>\n   <li>Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA)</li>\n   <li>IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) certification</li>\n   <li>CRCST</li>\n   <li>CBSPD certification</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Minimum 3 years of experience </li>\n <li>Must have demonstrated competence in instrument set assembly and sterilization across multiple specialties.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Johns Hopkins Health System and its affiliates are an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
