Description

Description The Master of Science in Forensic Science program seeks qualified graduate students to serve as Graduate Assistants (GAs). Graduate assistantships are designed to support the educational goals and objectives of the program by providing students with opportunities to actively participate in instructional, laboratory, and research-related activities that promote mastery of knowledge and professional skills in the field of forensic science. Graduate Assistants are assigned to individual forensic science faculty members and are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the academic semester. Primary Responsibilities Graduate Assistant duties may include, but are not limited to: · Performing quality control testing of reagents and instrumentation · Tutoring undergraduate and graduate students · Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety of program and department laboratories · Assisting in the development and preparation of undergraduate forensic science laboratory exercises · Conducting data analysis and assisting with research-related activities · Enhancing and maintaining program databases and records · Assisting with special projects as assigned by faculty or the Program Director · Attending weekly group meetings and participating in program activities Appointment Terms: Graduate assistantships are awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. Appointments are competitive and are determined by the Program Director in consultation with the forensic science faculty to whom graduate assistants will be assigned. The number of assistantships available each academic year and the stipend associated with each appointment are determined by the Program Director in consultation with the Provost. All decisions regarding assistantship awards are final and are not subject to appeal. Qualifications Eligibility Requirements · Must be enrolled full-time in the Master of Science in Forensic Science program · Assistantships are limited to students in their first or second year of study · Applicants must demonstrate strong academic performance, professionalism, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students
