Description

Job Summary The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with prescribed dietary guidelines. This includes cooking for special diets, (such as IDDSI, low-sodium, low-fat, gluten-free, etc.) to meet the nutritional needs of patients, residents, or clients. The cook ensures that meals are prepared in a safe, sanitary manner while maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation. Duties/Responsibilities Meal Preparation: Prepare, cook, and season food items in accordance with dietary specifications, menus, and recipes. Special Diets: Follow specific dietary instructions for patients or residents with special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium, pureed). Food Safety: Adhere to food safety standards, including safe food handling, storage, and sanitation practices. Menu Planning Support: Assist with planning menus that meet nutritional guidelines and special dietary requirements. Portion Control: Ensure portion sizes are consistent with nutritional standards and dietary plans. Inventory Management: Assist with the monitoring and management of food supplies, ensuring ingredients are fresh and appropriately stored. Collaboration: Work closely with nutritionists, dietitians, and other kitchen staff to ensure food meets all health standards. Meal Service: Assist with serving meals to residents or clients and ensuring proper food temperatures and presentation
