Description
JOB TITLE: Convenience Store Associate
ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Firelake Foods
SUPERVISOR: Store Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt
PAY RANGE: $12.00 to $20.00 Per Hour
*Must be able to work any shift*
JOB SUMMARY: A convenience store associate is responsible for maintaining customer service as per company standard, quality of product, generating sales, merchandising, signing, pricing, and loss prevention in adherence to all company policy/store standards. Perform laboring work in maintaining the building in a clean and orderly condition, maintain and keep the facilities clean, prepare and serve food to customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of customer service. Candidates interested in becoming a cashier while employed, must obtain a liquor license prior to starting employment to sell alcoholic beverages. This license must be kept either on the employee or at their workstation during work hours.
Candidates interested in becoming a cashier while employed, will be required to attend a Tips Intervention Procedures class when starting employment to sell alcoholic beverages. This certification must be kept either on the employee or at their workstation during work hours.
Ensure sales floor product is of highest quality and freshness.
Basic knowledge of standard operating procedures, necessary store equipment and Point of Sales equipment.
Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandising promotions, test merchandise and advertisements. Assisting Customers in locating products and helping with their purchases.
Assist in floor moves, stocking, merchandising and display maintenance.
Assist the Store in the control of Loss Prevention.
Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise, participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock and ensure re-wraps are done promptly.
Assist in grill or food service area if needed.
Operating cash register if that is your primary job function in the store.
Pick up and remove trash, clean bathrooms and clean windows as needed.
Vacuum carpet and sweep/mop floors as needed.
Be available when needed in all areas of facility for quick clean up.
Assist in Store Inventories, counting and performing fuel levels inventory by doing stick readings.
Willingness to learn functions of Store equipment and how to Install or repair any equipment if needed in your primary job position.
Keep store grounds clean and remove any refuse from grounds, pull weeds, etc.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention policies.
Great customer service skills and problem-solving skills.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties and projects as required by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have basic math and cash handling skills.
Must have good communication and written skills.
Ability to work as a team as well as independently with minimal Supervision.
Ability to maintain a professional image.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including sales floor, stock area, and register area.
Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run department.
Ability to climb ladders.
Sitting or standing for long periods of time, occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, stretching, good finger dexterity and feeling, frequent repetitive motions, talking, hearing, visual acuity and working with strong chemicals.
Ability to move, lift or transfer merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds.
Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal grocery environment.
