This nights-only role offers competitive salary compensation and comprehensive benefits, allowing you to focus on high-acuity trauma care while working alongside a strong, experienced trauma surgical team.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Quick Facts• Employment Type: Full-Time• Schedule / Hours: Nights only• Call: Night shift trauma coverage• Patient Volume: High-volume trauma level 1 center• Location: McAllen, Texas (Rio Grande Valley)• Practice Setting: Level I Trauma Center within South Texas Health System (STHS)• Support / Care Team: Multidisciplinary trauma surgery team with APPs and surgeons• EMR / Technology: Cerner electronic medical record system</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Responsibilities• Manage pre-operative and post-operative trauma patients in coordination with trauma surgeons• Perform tertiary evaluations of trauma admissions and provide episodic or problem-oriented care under physician direction• Assist with trauma quality performance improvement initiatives• Conduct complex patient care procedures usually performed by trauma surgeons but delegated to PAs• Assess patient complaints and deliver appropriate treatments• Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by supervising physician• Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate and communicate complex patient issues• Order and interpret labs and diagnostic tests in collaboration with trauma surgeons• Monitor treatment plans and update trauma surgeons with critical information• Respond promptly to emergency trauma alerts• Perform additional duties as assigned</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Compensation & Benefits• Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience• Sign-on / Relocation: Available for qualified candidates• Health, Dental, Vision & Retirement benefits• Wellness & Work-Life Balance support including malpractice coverage</p>\n<p>Qualifications• Certified Physician Assistant with appropriate trauma experience preferred• Active or eligible Texas medical license or certification• Trauma care experience highly desirable</p>\n<p>Growth & Development• Opportunities for professional development and leadership roles within the trauma program• Mentorship and ongoing training supported</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>About the Organization & CommunitySouth Texas Health System (STHS) is a comprehensive regional healthcare network with six hospitals, multiple freestanding emergency departments, physician practices, and extensive outpatient services.
