    "description": "<p>Better Living Health and Community Services has an opening for the full-time position of <em>Activationist</em> in our Adult Day Program. This position is responsible for developing and implementing programs for a range of seniors, including those who may have a physical disability, or who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or a related cognitive impairment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position reports to the <em>Supervisor, Adult Day Program</em>.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The successful candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services and Activation</li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience working with seniors who are frail and or cognitive impaired seniors and adults with disabilities</li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience in providing social and recreational programming for seniors and adults with disabilities</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent<span> written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to work collaboratively with team members and others</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong working knowledge of client documentation systems</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working both in a group setting and on a one-to –one with seniors with physical and/or cognitive challenges. Knowledge of dementia and skill in problem solving and providing a gentle persuasive approach to care</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Possess creativity, empathy,<span> enthusiasm, and compassion</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Good working knowledge of Outlook, Word and other MS Office applications</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Current<span> First Aid &amp; P.R. certification required</span></li>\n<li>Successful completion of <em>Vulnerable Sector Screening</em> within one month of employment</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The successful candidate(s) for this position must be able to:</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coordinate in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program activities including culturally appropriate programs</li>\n<li>Assist clients in activities of daily living such as medication reminder, toileting, transferring or directing and encouraging clients at mealtime</li>\n<li>Prepare, set-up and clean-up the program, equipment and supplies</li>\n<li>Facilitate recreation, social and exercise programs and supports other staff, students and volunteers who assist with these programs</li>\n<li>Maintain accurate client records and statistics</li>\n<li>Maintains knowledge, observes, and practices appropriate procedures in regards to Fire, Safety, Quality and environmental standards.</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to exercise sound judgment</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide support and accompaniment to clients to or from program on agency vehicles</li>\n<li>Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Personnel Manual.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Schedule: </span><br>Monday-Friday, 35 hours a week<br></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary:</span> $42,816- $46,384 per annum</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Better Living is an equal opportunity employer in accordance with the <em>Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act </em>and<em> Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act</em>.
