Apply today to join our team!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>As the Regional Educator you will:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work in a team based environment and is charged with providing discipline specific education and expertise across the health authority a majority of the time.</li>\n <li>Provide clinical and educational support to designated staff within Vancouver Coastal Health and performs related specialized duties.</li>\n <li>Plan, implement and evaluate educational programs, provides training in practice, assisting with the development and roll out of new clinical practices and providing staff with information on new or changed therapeutic procedures and practices.</li>\n <li>Consult, confer and collaborate with other health care providers regarding clinical concerns or requirements to gather information for ongoing improvement of client care.</li>\n <li>Provide training in Respiratory Therapy practices including modifying techniques and equipment, assisting with the development of new clinical practices and providing staff with information on new or changed therapeutic procedures and practices.</li>\n <li>Gather information for ongoing improvement of respiratory services.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate expertise and leadership in respiratory therapy services.</li>\n <li>Maintain and update own knowledge of clinical and professional practice, including hands-on clinical competencies by working directly with patients, clients, residents.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education & Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.</li>\n <li>Successful completion of the Health Professionals Testing Canada Credentialing Exam.</li>\n <li>Eligible for membership with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists and BC Society of Respiratory Therapists.</li>\n <li>Four (4) years’ recent, related experience in an acute care setting.</li>\n <li>Completion of a professional instructional program for teaching or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.</li>\n <li>Comprehensive knowledge of respiratory theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.</li>\n <li>Broad knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by BC Society of Respiratory Therapists.</li>\n <li>Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.</li>\n <li>General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, facilitate and teach.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of enquiry and evidence-based practice.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, patients and their families, and outside agencies.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.</li>\n <li>Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.</li>\n <li>Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills. Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Closing Statement</h2>\n<p>The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
