Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton, but frequent trips to Augustana Camrose are required. About the Faculty The Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FRM) offers Master’s of Science in Physical Therapy (MScPT), Occupational Therapy (MScOT) and Speech-Language Pathology (MScSLP) programs that require significant clinical work experience hours to graduate effective healthcare professionals. The FRM houses several discipline-specific clinics and an institute soon to have consolidated administration under the banner of FRM Teaching Clinics. These teaching clinics, located in Edmonton and Camrose, provide experiential learning for students and client care to surrounding communities. Position Overview Reporting to the Faculty General Manager (FGM), the Manager, FRM Teaching Clinics leads the administrative operations of FRM's multiple teaching clinics and supervises the consolidated administrative team that supports clinic operations. The position will: Be an instrumental part of the leadership team tasked with consolidating the clinics. Consolidation will require understanding of the disparate clinic operations and how to streamline these where possible for greater efficiency and service provision. Supporting the development of operational aspects of the new Augustana clinic in Camrose (launch 2026) will coincide with the consolidation. Expertise in leading change to bolster morale and maintain smooth operations during and after the merger will be critical. You will require initiative and innovation in order to launch the consolidated clinic and to create new opportunities in clinical teaching and service delivery in an interdisciplinary context on an ongoing basis. Play a key role in ensuring the management of efficient/effective administrative, human resource, and financial processes within the clinics. Working with the academic clinic leads and academic coordinators of clinical education (ACCEs), you will ensure that administrative processes support the clinics' strategic direction, student placements, smooth operations, client-centric service, and fiscal responsibility and sustainability. Oversee all aspects of the employee life cycle for the administrative support team, which includes: hiring, training, work assignments, performance management, appraisals and directing staff. You will ensure team members are supported and engaged throughout their employment, and that the business needs of the clinics receive timely, appropriate administrative support. Responsibilities Clinic Operations: Supports strategic and operational planning activities of the clinics by providing operational advice to clinical academic staff and ensuring administrative structures support strategic direction. Provides oversight of the administrative processes of clinician schedules and client bookings managed by the clinic operations team. Works with department Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education (ACCEs) and the Academic Services' Clinical Education team to support appropriate placements of students within the clinics. Using clinic operational analytics, leads the development of processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency. Financial Management: Responsible for financial oversight of the clinics: works with the FGM and Finance Partner to prepare budgets and forecasts. Responsible for designing and implementing revenue generation and financial sustainability initiatives, including actively pursuing external contracts (e.g. WCB). Supervision and Leadership: Provides leadership, supervises, and assigns projects to the clinic administrative team (3-4 FTE) located in Edmonton and Camrose. Works with staff to ensure resources are in place for optimal delivery of administrative services. Fosters a collegial culture and role models a service-oriented approach to the delivery of clinic services. Provides full-scope of supervision to administrative services staff (recruitment, training, performance evaluation and management, manages time approvals, vacation, and overtime / banked time). Develops and maintains a positive, productive, professional, and ethical working environment that encourages feedback from staff (regarding current tasks, policies, procedures and ideas for new initiatives), maximizes productivity, and enables respectful team collaborations. Establishes and directs a team model that engenders team learning and continuous professional development. Qualifications Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. 2 - 5 years of related experience with a proven track record of competency and effective leadership in a clinical setting. 2 - 5 years of proven / effective supervisory experience using advanced interpersonal and (employer perspective) managerial skills to effectively lead and supervise a diverse team of unionized employees in a large complex organization at multiple locations. Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software. Strategic and collaborative leadership skills; the ability to build effective and committed teams through integrity, consultation, cooperation, and mentorship. High level of emotional intelligence and interacts with integrity, patience, flexibility, resilience and political astuteness to create effective relationships and a supportive environment. Demonstrates the ability to critically and strategically analyze and evaluate information and situations to provide informed advice.
