Program Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide coordination and logistical support for TERA’s diverse set of education, outreach, and training programs.
ORGANIZATIONAL VISION
The Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA) is a community-based, intertribal nonprofit organization that works to revitalize ecology, economy, and culture through indigenous-led stewardship.
The mission of TERA, founded in 2019, is to cultivate land stewardship, livelihood, and leadership skills that weave collaborative relationships between Tribal members and the community at large for the benefit of all lands and beings. Our program goals are to:
Strengthen ties to land and culture
Connect tribal members with meaningful livelihoods and culturally relevant work in their ancestral territories
Regenerate local ecology of the North Coast Ranges
Build capacity for native voices to play a central role in land stewardship
TERA is a young organization in a dynamic growth phase, and building a team of professionals who are deeply committed to TERA’s vision.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Program Coordinator provides coordination and logistical support for TERA’s diverse set of education, outreach, and training programs. Working closely with the Program Director and other TERA staff, the Program Coordinator:
Assists with program planning and development
Develops and distributes promotional materials and program-related communications
Coordinates and participates in outreach activities, interfacing with Tribal and non-Tribal communities
Handles logistics and participant coordination for educational and training events ranging from a single day workshop to a four-week fellowship, including trainings and burns that are part of TERA’s EcoCultural Fire program and the Lake County EcoCultural TREX
FUNDAMENTALS:
Reports to: Program Director
Supervises: None
Location: TERA’s office is located in Upper Lake, CA. The working location for this position is in person with the option to work remotely on occasion with supervisor approval.
Time Commitment: 40 hours/week preferred, may be reduced to 32 hours/week if desired by the selected candidate.

Pay is commensurate with experien ce: $24 - $28/hour
Benefits available after 90 day introductory period for regular, full-time (32+ hours/week) employees include:
IRA retirement plan
$600 monthly pre-tax health reimbursement, which can be used for insurance premiums, copays, or other qualified health expenses
Up to 30 days of paid time off annually, including 14 holidays, 5 days sick leave, and 12 days vacation (accrued based on hours worked)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Program Coordination (65%):
Support Program Director and other TERA staff with planning and implementing ecocultural educational programming, including:
Native Stewards Fellowship
On-the-job training program and professional development opportunities for TERA crew
Custom trainings / workshops for Tribal partners
TREX / ecocultural fire trainings
Coordinate key aspects of program planning:
Identify and confirm potential program dates and locations, and maintain public and internal calendars with program dates
Schedule, participate in, and take notes for program planning meetings among TERA team and with relevant partners
Assist Program Director and other staff/instructors with developing curriculum and course agendas
Coordinate program-related communications:
Collaborate with Communications team to develop and implement outreach strategies, including emails, web pages, flyers, social media content, and newsletter content
Coordinate registration and act as main point of contact for participants and public inquiries about programs
Draft and send informational emails to program participants, instructors/mentors, and other partners
Coordinate logistics for programs, including:
Manage all programmatic material needs including ensuring all necessary tools, supplies, facilities, food and water are procured and set up before the program begins and packed and organized after program completes
Manage production and distribution of all curriculum materials and certificates necessary for planning and implementation
Interface with grant manager for budget tracking and finance team to manage payment of stipends to training participants and instructors/mentors
Create and manage instructor/mentor contracts, assist instructors/mentors with travel arrangements and other needs, and arrange gifts for instructors
Support program documentation and grant reporting through maintaining accurate records of participation and attendance, documenting program activities through photos and videos, distributing and processing evaluation surveys, and collecting participant testimonials
2. Outreach & Community Engagement (20%)
Coordinate and attend community tabling, community education, and other outreach events on behalf of TERA
Maintain professional and positive working relationships with community partners
Maintain and update TERA mailing and outreach list
Maintain outreach supplies and activities stocked and ready for events, and order additional supplies as needed
3. Team Collaboration: 10%
Attend weekly staff meetings and other team meetings as needed
Collaborate across departments (admin, stewardship and programs) to support effective flow of communication
Support office upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance
Participate in EcoCultural stewardship work with TERA crew up to 1 day per quarter if desired by the selected candidate
4. Other duties as needed: 5%

In addition, the following are required minimum qualifications for this position:
Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, ecology, natural resource management, or similar field
Minimum 2 years experience effectively supporting Tribal or nonprofit programming in program logistics, outreach, education, or stewardship work
Minimum 1 year experience working with Tribal communities; willingness to learn about contemporary challenges, concerns, and interests of Lake County tribal community and ecology
Strong writing, storytelling, and communications skills with the ability to listen and speak effectively.
Expertise with office technology, including Google suite (Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive), MS Office suite (Word and Excel), Adobe Acrobat, videoconferencing (Zoom, Meet), and ability to learn new software and technology
Patient, personable and approachable attitude. Able to work with diverse people, build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external partners.
Able to develop and follow a prioritized plan of work, set and keep deadlines and work on multiple projects concurrently, and manage competing demands.
Optional but desired qualifications for this position:
Working knowledge of Pomo languages or Native language revitalization
1+ years experience as a practitioner of ecocultural stewardship
1+ years experience with community engagement and outreach
1+ years experience in digital communications, storytelling, and/or media production
