Springfield, Ohio 45503 JOB TITLE:            Prevention and Education Coordinator DEPARTMENT:    Prevention and Education FLSA STATUS:     Exempt, Full-Time, Salary SALARY:                 $51,000 REPORTS TO:       Programs Director LOCATION:            On-Site EXPECTATIONS OF ALL EMPLOYEES Supports Project Woman’s mission and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: confidentiality and respect for all survivors, Trauma-Informed Responses and Approaches, service excellence and job competence, promoting positive collaboration and commitment to community. POSITION SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Programs Director, coordinates internal and external prevention programming—including support groups, provides community education, and public awareness, to promote the mission of Project Woman, and provides volunteer and internship coordination. Building awareness in the community of issues related to domestic violence, sexual violence, teen dating violence, and human trafficking. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates Community Education and Prevention efforts: ensures organization mission is communicated effectively and supported by efforts that build awareness of gender-based violence issues, increase accessibility for survivors, secondary survivors and increased awareness for community members. Leads empowerment support groups, that are survivor centered and trauma informed, to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, participating in Project Woman services in the community, in shelter, and in transitional housing. Provides prevention and empowerment focused education within the community including but not limited to local K-12 schools, university and college campuses, employers, civic organizations, etc. Seeks out, connects, and participates with marketing, outreach, and community events to raise awareness of Project Woman’s mission. Provides training to external stakeholder groups as related to domestic violence and stalking, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Engages with colleagues for support with education efforts, as needed. Ensures agency communications including social media, websites, and printed materials are accessible and representative of survivor voice, empowerment, and promote opportunities for allies to engage in the mission.  Assists with agency publications to promote and build opportunities for survivor stories and to engage allies. Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers and interns to assist with Project Woman mission, including assisting on the Crisis Line, in shelter, and with administrative tasks. Participates in Project Woman Leadership team; supervising staff as necessary. Participates in Leadership 24/7 On-Call rotation for Project Woman’s Emergency Shelter Program. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of all participants in Project Woman programming as required by the Violence Against Woman Act federal statute. Provides Crisis Line coverage as needed, including providing direct service crisis intervention, resources, and referrals. Willingness to assist with Emergency Shelter coverage when needed. Attends agency trainings and continuing education activities, as assigned. Maintains monthly program statistics, accurate database tracking, outcome measures, and required agency/funder reports, in keeping with Violence Against Women Act statute requirements. Maintains and helps strengthen positive collaboration with community partners including social service agencies, hospitals, taskforces, law enforcement agencies, and criminal justice programs, as necessary to ensure appropriate access, and to address barriers for survivors. Consistently represents the mission and philosophy of the agency. Performs other duties as needed, requested, or as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Two or four-year degree in Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or related field; relevant work or lived experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Experience in domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or related fields preferred. Experience with public speaking and presentations. Experience in crisis intervention strategies. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn technology platforms. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: General knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, social services, and community resources. Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with survivors and their families. Experience with Trauma-Informed Approaches, Ohio Rape Crisis Core Standards, and Crisis Intervention. Ability to remain calm and responsive in crisis situations. Ability to practice good self-care. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and provide culturally competent services. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong professional ethics, including confidentiality and appropriate boundaries. Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills. Supportive, positive, and empathetic personality. Excellent time management and multitasking skills. Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic work environment. General knowledge of customer service skills. COMPENSATION This position starts at $51,000 and is a full-time (40 hours), exempt position. Benefits include partially paid health insurance for employees, including dental and vision, voluntary life insurance, and voluntary short- and long-term disability. Project Woman may assist personnel in applying for any professional licenses, necessary for the position, or other credentialing, as desired. Employment with Project Woman allows for participation in statewide domestic violence and sexual assault coalition collaborations, caucuses, and taskforces. WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work in this environment will result in regularly assisting people in acute distress or crisis.
