VCH only funds for required courses.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Travel to lower mainland required during practicums (exact dates TBD). Travel expenses reimbursed according to VCH policy.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.</strong></p>\n<p><strong>This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete. Apply today to join our team!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>As a Registered Nurse you will:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide nursing care to patients/clients on the inpatient ward; provide nursing care to predominantly older residents in a continuing care setting.</li>\n <li>Provide emergency nursing care to patients/clients of all ages presenting to the emergency department with a wide variety of symptoms.</li>\n <li>Work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.</li>\n <li>Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the client/resident/patient and/or family.</li>\n <li>Consult, confer, and collaborate with other health care providers.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate continuous improvement and best practices approach in nursing practice.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice.</li>\n <li>Maintain and advance own clinical competence.</li>\n <li>Participate on designated committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>ABOUT BELLA COOLA, BC</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Bella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel, 500 km north of Vancouver, with a population of about 1800 people. The community is at the end of a long, truly magnificent fjord, on the mainland coast of British Columbia. Bella Coola General Hospital has 10 acute bed, 5 long term care beds and a 3 bed emergency department open 24/7, along with a laboratory, diagnostic imaging services, Telehealth, Mental Health, Public Health, Home & Community Support Services. Also within the hospital are a medical clinic and a pharmacy.</p>\n<h2>Closing Statement</h2>\n<p>The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
