In this role, you will guide multidisciplinary teams through the full project lifecycle, ensuring technical solutions are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with FAA standards and mission objectives.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of technical depth and project leadership, with the ability to translate complex system architectures—including <strong>global telecommunications and network infrastructures (SD-WAN, MPLS, and enterprise WAN environments)</strong>—into executable, results-driven project plans. Exceptional communication, leadership, and analytical skills are essential to drive collaboration across engineering, IT, logistics, vendors, and FAA stakeholders.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Work Location:</strong></p>\n<p>This position is 100% on-site, primarily located in Herndon, VA, with an alternate work location available in Bowie, MD. Candidates must be able to work on-site at one of these locations based on program requirements.</p>\n<h3>What You’ll Do</h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Lead the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of complex technical and engineering projects supporting FAA operations and NAS modernization.</p></li>\n <li><p>Manage projects involving <strong>global telecommunications networks</strong>, including SD-WAN, MPLS, and secure enterprise network architectures supporting mission-critical systems.</p></li>\n <li><p>Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, budgets, risk registers, and performance baselines.</p></li>\n <li><p>Serve as the primary interface between technical teams, program management, vendors, and FAA stakeholders.</p></li>\n <li><p>Coordinate cross-functional collaboration across software, hardware, network, cybersecurity, and systems engineering teams.</p></li>\n <li><p>Manage project scope, deliverables, and timelines using Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid methodologies.</p></li>\n <li><p>Prepare and deliver clear, concise status reports, technical briefings, and milestone reviews to FAA leadership.</p></li>\n <li><p>Identify, document, and proactively mitigate technical, operational, and integration risks.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ensure compliance with FAA AMS, FAR, cybersecurity, and internal quality standards.</p></li>\n <li><p>Oversee configuration management, change control, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.</p></li>\n <li><p>Support vendor coordination, contract tracking, and verification of technical deliverables.</p></li>\n <li><p>Facilitate requirements definition, test planning, system integration, and operational readiness reviews.</p></li>\n <li><p>Drive continuous improvement by promoting best practices, process standardization, and efficiency across engineering programs.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Why This Role Matters</h3>\n<p>The FAA’s ability to modernize and operate the National Airspace System depends on the flawless execution of highly technical projects that underpin aviation safety, system reliability, cybersecurity, and global connectivity. As a Technical Project Manager, you play a critical leadership role—aligning diverse technical teams, managing risk early, and ensuring outcomes that directly support national aviation priorities.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Your work will help ensure that U.S. air traffic systems remain safe, resilient, and technologically advanced in an increasingly interconnected global aviation environment.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h3><strong>Position Requirements:</strong></h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>U.S. citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a <strong>Public Trust clearance</strong>.</p></li>\n <li><p><strong>10+ years</strong> of experience in technical project management or program leadership within engineering, IT, or infrastructure environments.</p></li>\n <li>A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in <strong>Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, Business Administration</strong>, or a related field is required (Can accept 4 additional years of experience in lieu degree).</li>\n <li><p>Proven success leading complex, mission-critical technical projects, including enterprise IT and network-based initiatives.</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience managing projects involving <strong>global telecommunications networks</strong>, including <strong>SD-WAN, MPLS, and enterprise WAN architectures</strong>.</p></li>\n <li><p>Strong command of project management fundamentals, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, performance measurement, and earned value tracking.</p></li>\n <li><p>Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional technical teams across engineering, networking, cybersecurity, and IT disciplines.</p></li>\n <li><p>Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as <strong>Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence</strong>, or equivalent platforms.</p></li>\n <li><p>Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders.</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience managing vendor relationships, contractual deliverables, and statement-of-work alignment.</p></li>\n <li><p>Proven ability to develop and maintain <strong>risk registers, mitigation strategies, and performance dashboards</strong>.</p></li>\n <li><p>Capability to lead technical reviews, validation efforts, and post-implementation assessments.</p></li>\n <li><p>Strong analytical mindset with a focus on metrics, quality assurance, and measurable outcomes.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h3>Desired Qualifications:</h3>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Experience supporting <strong>FAA programs</strong>, National Airspace System (NAS) initiatives, or other federal aviation or transportation systems.</p></li>\n <li><p><strong>PMP, PMI-ACP</strong>, or similar project management certification.</p></li>\n <li><p>Professional certifications such as <strong>CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional)</strong> or <strong>ITIL Foundation</strong>.</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience with <strong>FAA NextGen</strong>, air traffic management systems, or large-scale federal modernization efforts.</p></li>\n <li><p>Familiarity with <strong>Agile, DevSecOps</strong>, or hybrid delivery environments supporting engineering or IT integration programs.</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience with <strong>cost estimation, resource planning, and contract oversight</strong>.</p></li>\n <li><p>Background in <strong>cybersecurity compliance, infrastructure modernization, safety-critical systems</strong>, or highly regulated environments.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Peraton Overview</h2>\n<p>Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
