Description Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians. Reporting to the HR Transformation Project Manager, the Intern, Business Analyst supports HR transformation initiatives by documenting and analyzing business processes across multiple HR and other business functions. Working closely with business stakeholders, this role is responsible for capturing current and future state process flows, identifying pain points, and contributing to the development of standardized operating procedures. This role offers hands-on experience within an active HR transformation program, providing exposure to stakeholders across HR Operations, Centres of Excellence (COEs), and Trade Operation Teams. The Business Analyst I will receive mentorship and guidance from experienced project leaders, with opportunities to develop practical skills in process mapping, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven analysis while contributing to meaningful, enterprise-wide initiatives. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 889 Harbourside Drive, North Vancouver. What you'll do Participate in process discovery workshops to capture current and future state workflows using swimlane (cross-functional) diagrams . Document business process pain points, gaps, and improvement opportunities identified during stakeholder discussions . Support the development and maintenance of a centralized repository of process maps and standard operating procedures . Assist in gathering and analyzing data to support root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives . Elicit and document business requirements for enhancements to HR reports and dashboards . Ensure process documentation is aligned with other ongoing HR transformation initiatives. Collaborate with team members to validate and refine process documentation. Work closely with the Project Manager and team members to learn and apply business analysis techniques in a structured project environment. What you'll bring Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources, Management Information Systems, or a related field. 0–1 years of relevant experience (internship or co-op experience considered an asset). Exposure to process mapping, business analysis, or project work is an asset. Basic understanding of process mapping concepts (e.g., swimlane diagrams). Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Visio, MIRO, or similar is an asset. Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information clearly. Analytical mindset with an interest in problem-solving and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills with a willingness to engage and learn from stakeholders.
