    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>Division/Unit: Survivor Services Bureau (SSB)</p>\n<p>Civil Service Title: Community Associate</p>\n<p>Position Title: Survivor Services Associate</p>\n<p>Salary Range: $45,101 - $51,749</p>\n<p><strong>Job Description:</strong></p>\n<p>The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an opening for a Survivor Services Associate in its Survivor Services Bureau (SSB). In this position the Survivor Services Associate will provide support to the (SSB) ensuring calls and transportation requests are addressed for victims and witnesses of crime. These services may include receiving and responding to high volume of calls, incoming transportation requests and assistance with directing callers to the appropriate SSB staff and/or agencies. Services will be provided in the Main Office downtown.</p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities include but are not limited to:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Receive heavy volume of calls and assess to navigate to the appropriate departments of SSB to ensure the clients are receiving support and services.</li>\n <li>Explain criminal justice system and provide basic case information.</li>\n <li>Able to assess safety/crisis needs of callers and transition them to an SSB Advocate or SSB Counselor.</li>\n <li>Monitor and respond to voicemails.</li>\n <li>Assist with Transportation requests.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Level 1 – Associate degree and two (2) years of customer service experience.</li>\n <li>Level 2 – Associate degree and three (3) years of customer service experience.</li>\n <li>Level 3 – Associate degree and four (4) years of customer service experience.</li>\n <li>Level 4 – Associate degree and five (5) years of customer service experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>*Bachelors degree can substitute for years of experience*</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Preferred Requirements/Skills:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.</li>\n <li>Bilingual in Spanish.</li>\n <li>American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency.</li>\n <li>Experience and/or knowledge of working with crime victims.</li>\n <li>Ability to demonstrate a high level of sensitivity to victim issues.</li>\n <li>Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented and self-motivated and able to multi-task.</li>\n <li>Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment.</li>\n <li>Ability to follow directions and apply proper policies, procedures, and guidelines.</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.</li>\n <li>Possess strong ability to handle high volume of calls and emails.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Apply with a Cover Letter and Resume.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Hours/Shift:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; 9:00 am - 5:00 pm; 9:30 am - 5:30 pm 10:00 am - 6:00 pm; 10:30 am - 6:30 pm.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Information:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Current office employees:&nbsp;</strong>To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least one (1) year in their current unit/ bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.</li>\n <li>Looking for candidates that could commit to one (1) year to the hiring Unit.</li>\n <li>Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualification Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ol>\n <li>High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities</li>\n <li>in an area related to duties described above; or</li>\n <li>Education and/or experience which is equivalent to \"1\" above.</li>\n</ol>\n<p><strong>Public Svc Loan Forgiveness:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs and state repayment assistance programs.
