In conjunction with the safety department, leads safety improvement activities and is an active and engaged participant in Alter&#39;s safety program.</li><li>Sets operating schedules, daily and monthly production goals, and operating processes in conjunction with Facility Manager and other facility management staff.</li><li>Uses metrics to measure performance and quality of the shredding operation.</li><li>Prepares and monitors annual budgets and monthly operating costs for shredding operations</li><li>Identifies, quantifies and drives evaluation of new technology for future implementation at the shredder. Participates fully in company-wide committees on shredder. Shares own and implements others&#39; best practices to improve performance.</li><li>In conjunction with Transportation staff, manages trucking and rail transportation activities related to shredding operation.</li><li>Along with Maintenance, directs preventative and emergency maintenance activities for the shredder in order to improve both availability and costs including spare part inventory</li><li>Directly oversees management of production employees on one shift and communicates with maintenance staff. To include staffing, performance management, training and development, and associated personnel decisions.</li><li>Work with Marketing staff to grade and price scrap, and to maintain excellent relationship with both commercial and peddler customers.</li><li>Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed</li></ul><p><strong>ABOUT YOU AS THE SHREDDER MANAGER</strong>:</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>High school diploma or GED required. &nbsp;Associate or Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred.&nbsp;</li><li>3-5 years recent and relevant experience supervising a staff of equivalent size in an industrial manufacturing and or Heavy Equipment Production.&nbsp;</li><li>Must be familiar with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and large motor sub-systems as well as metals recycling operations and shredders.</li><li>Familiarity with welding, mechanical, and simple electrical maintenance.</li><li>Must be familiar with maintenance management in order to direct maintenance employees.</li><li>Position is outside in all weather in a heavy manufacturing environment and successful candidates will be hands-on operators as well</li><li>Ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel to communicate and track information.</li><li>Excellent open communication style required to carry out responsibilities with all levels employees.</li><li>Preferred Experience: Background in non-ferrous (NF) and ferrous metals, shredders, supervisory or leadership roles, inventory management, equipment operation, or operations/team lead/manager positions</li><li>Candidates must possess a valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong>ABOUT THE SHREDDER MANAGER BENEFITS</strong>:</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Medical, Dental &amp; Vision Insurance Offered</li><li>Company Paid Disability Insurance Provided</li><li>Company Paid Life Insurance Provided with Option to purchase additional on a voluntary basis</li><li>HSA with a company match</li><li>401k with a company match</li><li>Generous Paid Time Off including in the first year</li></ul><p><strong>ABOUT US:</strong></p><p><strong>Alter Trading Corporation</strong>, a 127+ year old, privately held company with 70+ recycled material processing facilities throughout the Midwest and Southern region, is searching for a Shredder Manager for its Milwaukee, WI location.
