Position Summary
PS&S is seeking an experienced Natural Gas Utility Project Manager / Engineer to join our Warren, NJ office; however, the candidate could possibly work from our Wall or Cherry Hill offices. This position is ideal for a technically strong utility professional who can lead projects through all phases of design and delivery while managing schedules, budgets, and client expectations.
In this role, you will oversee multi-disciplinary project teams, provide technical leadership and QA/QC oversight, and ensure successful execution of gas utility infrastructure projects that support safe, reliable service for our clients and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead natural gas utility projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring delivery on schedule, within scope, and within budget Oversee day-to-day project execution while ensuring compliance with client standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior designers, engineers, and support staff Coordinate and perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables Prepare and present project status updates, including identification of risks and mitigation strategies Review, interpret, and troubleshoot design plans for linear utility infrastructure projects Assist with preparing and submitting federal, state, county, and municipal permit applications Promote a collaborative, high-performance team environment focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of experience in distribution natural gas utility engineering and/or design Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, tracking, coordination, and delivery Prior supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D) required Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office; MS Project experience is a plus Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment Willingness to use your own vehicle to drive to project sites within NJ and occasionally work outside traditional hours when needed Ability to communicate and coordinate with internal leadership and external stakeholders including clients and agencies, etc.
