Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of ECS, this position will serve as a member of a Student Evaluation and Support Services (SESS) Team in a program offering psychological, social, sensory, and educational services to children ages 3-22. The SESS Team will service children through the Child Search Office and in public and non-public school settings. Work Environment Listed below are key points regarding environmental demands and the work environment of the job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. - Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday; - Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds rarely; - Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) rarely; - Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely; - Normal setting for this job is an office/school setting. Performance Evaluation The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Functions as evaluation coordinator for designated referred students; Facilitates the Student Assistance Team (SATeam) process by participating as a representative of the Student Evaluation & Support Services team in providing feedback on best practices in the student assistance team process; Explains and interprets assessment services/findings to parents, teachers, principals, and other appropriate personnel; Implements and/or assists teachers and other school personnel in the design and implementation of educational / behavioral interventions for support and / or related services to clients; Provides a written report of any academic/behavioral support services provided to clients; Attends the Tier III data meetings to participate in the development of evidence-based interventions and to assist in the analysis of the plans’ effectiveness; Evaluates as a Student Evaluation & Support Services member and in accordance with Bulletin 1508, the Pupil Appraisal Handbook, and the NASP ethical standards those students suspected of being exceptional. Evaluations include activities such as appraisal of students’ cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social functioning, self- concept, cultural/linguistic factors, and developmental and educational functioning; Serves as a member of the Child Search Team by conducting functional /developmental assessments for preschool-aged children; Participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) staffing and service plan meetings, when appropriate Education and Experience Master’s Degree in School Psychology required; Certification by the Louisiana State Department of Education as a School Psychologist; Expertise to administer and interpret diagnostic techniques to be used with all types of exceptional children; and Valid Louisiana Ancillary Certificate. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required Must possess basic computer skills and demonstrate the ability to use various types of software programs; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to special education; Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies.
