DIAGNOSTIC DIESEL TECHNICIAN
Department: Fleet & Maintenance

Position Summary
Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and tech-savvy Diagnostic Diesel Technician to join our dynamic Fleet & Maintenance team. This position requires advanced knowledge in diesel mechanics paired with modern diagnostic expertise, specifically with Cummins and Paccar engine platforms. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of electronic diagnostic software, data analysis, and fault resolution to ensure our fleet is operating at peak performance.
Working under the direction of the Shop Manager, the selected candidate will serve as the go-to technician for engine diagnostics, root cause analysis, and smart repair strategies, supporting operations at either our Long Beach or Santa Fe Springs locations.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair engine issues using OEM diagnostic platforms (Cummins Insite, Paccar DAVIE4, etc.) Conduct electrical, emission system, and sensor diagnostics across a variety of heavy-duty diesel trucks Interpret fault codes and performance data, update ECU software, and calibrate sensors as needed Perform advanced preventative maintenance and major component overhauls when necessary Troubleshoot aftertreatment systems, DEF issues, DPF regens, and other emissions-related concerns Document all repair activities in fleet maintenance software systems with accuracy and clarity Assist in training junior mechanics on electronic diagnostics and standard repair techniques Provide input on fleet condition and recommend strategies to reduce downtime and improve efficiency Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of assigned workspaces in accordance with OSHA and company standards
