The RN should possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas and be an advocate for patients with strong communication skills and critical thinking.   </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>What You Will Do:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>The Peri-Operative Registered Nurse provides safe, high-quality nursing care across the surgical continuum in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), including pre-operative, intra-operative circulating, and post-anesthesia (PACU) phases, in accordance with AORN, ASPAN, and applicable regulatory standards.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n  <ul>\n   <li><p>Performs comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments, verifies consents, H&P, orders, and completes time-out procedures per policy</p></li>\n   <li><p>Functions as the circulating nurse during surgical procedures, coordinating room activities and anticipating surgeon and anesthesia needs</p></li>\n   <li><p>Prepares and administers medications safely and accurately in accordance with established standards and physician orders</p></li>\n   <li><p>Collaborates with anesthesia during induction and emergencies; responds appropriately to changes in patient condition or emergencies</p></li>\n   <li><p>Provides PACU care including airway management, monitoring vital signs, pain control, and recovery from anesthesia</p></li>\n   <li><p>Ensures accurate, complete documentation throughout all phases of care</p></li>\n   <li><p>Communicates effective hand-off reports during transitions between pre-op, OR, and PACU</p></li>\n   <li><p>Utilizes appropriate body mechanics and follows safety protocols to promote patient and staff safety</p></li>\n   <li>Performs nursing duties as assigned</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>What You Will Bring: </strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum 2 years' experience in an operating room setting; preferably in ophthalmology.   </li>\n <li>Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure.  </li>\n <li>Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.  </li>\n <li>Valid BCLS, ACLS & PALS Certifications required upon employment (Must be through American Heart Association, online certification not acceptable).   </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Note:</strong> This position is for a NEW Ambulatory Surgical Center in Frederick, MD. Upon hire, training will begin in Hagerstown, MD.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>$36.00 - $42.00 an hour</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as, but not limited to full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility, annual educational reimbursement, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO).
