Our providers specialize in procedures such as Mohs surgery and are committed to excellent patient outcomes, a collaborative team environment, and hands-on training for our staff.</p>\n<p><strong>About Us:</strong> https://www.derminstitutemd.com/about-us/</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>As a <strong>Surgical Medical Assistant </strong>you will play a critical role in supporting our dermatology surgical team by providing hands-on patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This position involves assisting with <strong>Mohs surgery/cosmetic procedures</strong>, preparing surgical rooms, and ensuring a smooth patient experience from intake through post-operative care.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Duties & Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Escort patients to exam and procedure rooms; assist with mobility as needed</li>\n <li>Collect patient history, perform intake, take vital signs, and complete screenings per provider guidelines</li>\n <li>Complete pre-operative intake, explain procedures, and address patient questions within scope</li>\n <li>Prepare surgical rooms, instruments, and sterile trays for Mohs procedures</li>\n <li>Assist the physician during procedures (passing instruments, suturing support, blotting, etc.)</li>\n <li>Administer local anesthesia and support hemostasis using cautery (per provider direction)</li>\n <li>Cleanse, disinfect, and drape surgical sites using proper sterile technique</li>\n <li>Apply bandages and review post-operative wound care instructions with patients</li>\n <li>Remove sutures and assist with follow-up care</li>\n <li>Collect, label, and process pathology specimens; maintain accurate pathology logs</li>\n <li>Route specimens to appropriate labs based on insurance requirements</li>\n <li>Document all patient interactions and procedures accurately in EMR</li>\n <li>Notify patients of lab and pathology results as directed</li>\n <li>Maintain exam room cleanliness, sterilize instruments (autoclave), and restock supplies</li>\n <li>Ensure compliance with HIPAA and infection control protocols</li>\n <li>Support overall clinic flow and assist with additional duties as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Qualifications & Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred</li>\n <li>At least 1 year of recent experience as a <strong>Medical Assistant, Surgical Assistant, or in a clinical patient care setting</strong> (dermatology or surgical experience preferred)</li>\n <li>Experience assisting with surgeries and/or procedures such as biopsies, excisions, Mohs surgery, or similar<strong> (required)</strong></li>\n <li>Completion of a Medical Assistant, CNA, Surgical Tech, or<strong> Bachelor’s degree in a pre-med/pre-PA track</strong> preferred</li>\n <li>Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills with providers, patients, and team members</li>\n <li>Professional, patient-focused approach with strong customer service skills</li>\n <li>Knowledge of HIPAA and infection control standards</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to stand for extended periods of time during procedures</li>\n <li>Ability to lift and move at least 15 pounds</li>\n <li>Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands during patient care and surgical support</li>\n <li>Ability to safely assist patients with mobility as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Licensure/Certifications/Education</h2>\n<p><strong>Benefits (Full-Time; 30+ Hours per Week):</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Medical, dental, and vision coverage beginning the first of the month after hire</li>\n <li>Short-term and long-term disability, voluntary life insurance (employee, spouse, and dependent), critical illness, and hospital indemnity plans available after hire</li>\n <li>Employer-paid basic life and AD&D insurance</li>\n <li>Paid time off and company-recognized holidays</li>\n <li>Retirement savings plan options</li>\n <li>Discounts on cosmetic treatments and skincare products</li>\n</ul>",
