We seek a dynamic, motivated intern to support our Strategic Outreach team during the 2026 Summer Summer. Refugees International’s Strategic Outreach Team advances the organization’s external engagement functions, including communications and media relations, campaigns, government relations, and partnerships. Below you will see the responsibilities and qualifications for the internship.
Refugees International (RI) seeks great people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and we specifically encourage members of refugee, immigrant, asylum-seeking, or other displaced to apply for the internship.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support advocacy and campaign priorities across the Strategic Outreach team;
Contribute to a project to digitize Refugees International’s archive;
Assist with publishing and maintaining Refugees International’s website;
Draft written, video, and multimedia content for digital platforms;
Support email communications and maintaining the contact database;
Monitor and tracking Refugees International social and digital media mentions;
Research social media trends and digital best practices;
Conduct research on key advocacy targets, partners, and audiences;
Assist with digital analytics and performance reporting;
Monitor major news outlets for issues relevant to Refugees International’s work;
Support meetings, events, and special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Enthusiasm for Refugees International’s mission and work;
Strong writing, editing, and social media skills;
Familiarity with digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva;
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
Ability to manage multiple tasks independently;
Interest in humanitarian issues, forced displacement, and advocacy;
Be based within the United States;
Work at least 250 hours, as guided by RI staff or partners;
Begin in late May 2026 and end no later than late August 2026.
COMPENSATION
$5,000 Stipend
