Your work environment at EXP
In this role, you will be a part of the Environmental and Regulatory team, of the Energy Services Sector, based in Florida.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
As part of EXP’s commitment to environmental education and stewardship, our company is actively searching for highly motivated, exemplary students who are eager to further their education gaining hands-on experience through our summer intern program. The Summer Intern Program runs from May to August out of the Houston, TX office.
As an EXP intern, you will get exposure to many aspects of environmental consulting. Project managers will mentor and provide technical guidance in projects that include site inspections and wetland delineations, biological field surveys, GIS, and environmental permitting. Support will focus on providing experience on real-life projects with hands-on participation in EXP’s core businesses.
Assist with research, development and documentation of environmental impacts and planning for energy projects, including preparation of technical documents supporting the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Assisting EXP scientists, biologists, engineers, and project managers in multiple activities and daily functions while gaining a better understanding of environmental services related to ecosystem planning, assessment, design, and implementation Assist with fieldwork, including wetland delineations, biological surveys and site inspections Assist with GIS mapping and analysis – of project location and environmental resources
What your experience looks like
College freshman/sophomore/junior Pursuing a major in Environmental Sciences no prior work experience is necessary willingness to learn Problem solving and analytical skills positive attitude work well in a team environment comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions PC/Windows ‐ based software experience in Word or Excel valid driver’s license ability to travel periodically standing or walking outside on unlevel ground is a possibility occasionally moving objects of 21 to 60 pounds The requirements of the job and the physical demands are frequently performed in outdoor weather conditions with frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and possibly extreme heat or cold
