As a Computed Tomography Clinical Educator/Instructor, you’ll support excellence in patient care and professional practice through clinical education, mentorship, and advanced CT expertise! Reporting to the Manager, Medical Imaging, the Computed Tomography Clinical Educator/Instructor works in a team-based environment and is responsible and accountable for providing modality-specific clinical education and clinical instruction for CT Technologists and students.This role is responsible for: Developing, planning, delivering, and evaluating clinical and technical education programs for CT staff and learners. Identifying educational needs and creating formal learning materials, orientation programs, and training resources. Providing clinical/practice support, mentoring, coaching, and formal education to designated staff. Coordinating and overseeing the clinical training experience of radiology technology students during their CT rotations. Monitoring learning outcomes, supporting competency development, and promoting evidence-based practice. Collaborating with leadership, educators, and academic institutions to support professional development and training initiatives. Performing and demonstrating advanced expertise in CT practice and technical functions, as required. Practicing in accordance with CAMRT standards and other relevant professional practice guidelines. What You Bring Education, Training and Experience Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists’ (CAMRT). Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography (CT) and three (3) years recent, related experience in CT or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level. Completion of a professional instructional program for teaching at the college level (such as Educator Pathway 1 and 2, Instructors Diploma Program or Adult Education Certificate or related health care degree) and recent experience creating educational materials, implementing education strategies, utilizing knowledge translation abilities and experience mentoring staff and/or students, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of CT standards of practice, evidence-based imaging techniques, aseptic procedures, and applicable accreditation, organizational, and professional guidelines, including CAMRT and CPSBC Diagnostic Accreditation Program standards. Skilled in CT equipment operation, PACS/RIS systems, CPR, and related software applications. Proven ability to develop and implement educational programs, orientation and training plans, procedure protocols, and instructional materials using adult education and curriculum design principles. Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, coach, and support students and staff while promoting a culture of enquiry, continuous learning, and evidence-based practice. Strong project management, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage change, prioritize work, assess risk, collaborate effectively across disciplines, and support quality patient care. Supports professional development and competency maintenance by facilitating learning plans, introducing new procedures and equipment, maintaining awareness of current CT standards and advances, and ensuring staff meet applicable accreditation and practice requirements. Coordinates and oversees student clinical education programs, including rotations, orientations, evaluations, remedial support, progress reporting, and collaboration with technologists, academic institutions, CAMRT, and other stakeholders to ensure clinical training standards are met. Develops and delivers education to technologists on effective teaching, student supervision, assessment methods, and constructive feedback while providing ongoing support related to student learning and performance management. Collaborates with educators, practice leaders, clinical instructors, and external partners to support best practices in clinical education, share educational resources, and contribute to committees and training initiatives. Maintains clinical competency and performs CT technical duties as required, including patient care, imaging procedures, equipment operation, data management, radiation safety, and quality practices in accordance with departmental standards. Provides clinical and technical expertise, consultation, and advisory support within the CT program and carries out all responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, safety requirements, and other related duties as assigned.
