Description Under the limited supervision of an Administrative Analyst 4 or other supervisor in a state department, institution, or agency, assists in the review, analysis, and appraisal of current department administrative procedures, organization, and performance, and helps to prepare recommendations for changes and/or revisions; does related duties. Specific to Position Top of Form The selected candidate will provide analytical and administrative support to Community Investment and Economic Revitalization (CIER) program by ensuring efficient daily operations. This position will assist with evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of CIER programs and activities by analyzing operational data, tracking spending plans and contracts through approval processes, and assessing equipment inventory management to determine where administrative improvements or cost efficiencies can be achieved. Key responsibilities include purchasing office equipment, preparing purchase orders, personnel actions, OPRA coordination, and managing incoming correspondence and phone communications. The analyst maintains liaison with organizational units providing support services such as data processing, purchasing, and personnel to evaluate the adequacy of operating systems, investigates problem areas such as equipment maintenance and IT setup inefficiencies, and develops solutions while preparing recommendations for the Assistant Commissioner on administrative and procedural improvements. Preferred Skillset Preference will go to candidates with strong organizational and communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic information systems, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Requirements Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Six (6) years of professional experience involving the review, analysis, and evaluation of budget, organization, administrative practices, operational methods, management operations, or data processing applications, or any combination thereof, which shall have included responsibility for recommendation, planning, and/or implementation of improvements in a business or government agency. OR Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and two (2) years of the above-mentioned professional experience. OR Possession of a Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Accounting; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience. NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is creative, analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range and depth of specialized knowledge of the profession's principles, concepts, theories, and practices; and is performed with the authority to act according to one's own judgment and make accurate and informed decisions. NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting. Failure to provide documentation may result in ineligibility. License Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
