Duties include cutting, fitting, tacking, welding, and grinding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Will also be assisting others in the fabrication process. Help maintain a clean and organized shop. </span><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Welder 1 also inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, cleans, and maintains new and existing equipment and/or systems. It is essential for the Welder 1 to be able to communicate with other team members and to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Whitaker Construction</span>, founded in 1953, has over 70 years of experience in the heavy civil and underground utility construction industry. Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews. We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Roles and Responsibilities: </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><em>Including but not limited to the list below. </em></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to position, layout, fit up, cut, and weld material in accordance to shop drawings and directions from supervisor.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Operate tooling and equipment such as a torch, plasma arc cutter, grinder, pipe bender, etc.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Work safely in a shop setting around heavy equipment including ironworkers, press brakes, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Load and unload equipment and materials. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Maintain tools as required to perform job. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Performing all job duties following company safety rules and proper use of all personal protective equipment. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Skills and Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">1-2 years welding experience preferred.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.) </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Have an understanding of engineering drawings and welding symbols.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Comprehend a Bill of Material to determine necessary materials and requirements. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">1 Year or more of welding/fabrication work experience at meets or exceeds performance expectations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to read and interpret all AWS basic weld symbols and typical welding symbols.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Frequent use of basic hand and measurement tools. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to work effectively in a team environment. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work. </span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements:</span> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and able to lift up-to 50 or more pounds frequently. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Whitaker Construction offers an exceptional benefits package including:</span> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
