University Foot and Ankle Institute is well known as one of the most technologically advanced foot and ankle practices in the nation and has been voted "LA's Best Foot & Ankle Practice" by LA Magazine. Based in Santa Monica, we have 6 convenient locations throughout Los Angeles County. At University Foot & Ankle Institute, we are proud to provide exceptional podiatric care and to allow our patients to live healthy and active lives. The Medical Assistant works with the physician and other members of the primary or specialty care team by performing a variety of clinical and administrative patient-related duties. The medical assistant also works to fulfill a variety of patient needs and ensures smooth patient flow within the department. This role will be based in Santa Monica with travel to Sherman Oaks. The ideal candidate for the Medical Assistant will be able to support a busy podiatry practice with weekly travel to Sherman Oaks. The ideal candidate will also have some front desk experience and will be cross-trained to occasionally help to support the front desk as needed. Duties/Responsibilities Greet patients on the phone and in person Place patients in the exam rooms Take vital signs and perform ancillary tests appropriate to skill level Assist and setup up for providers during examination, treatment, and procedures Keep accurate patient files Apply dressing, bandages, and splints as ordered by provider Ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies Maintain a sanitized and safe working environment Maintain HIPAA Coordination of services between multiple practices demonstrable by excellent communication skills Schedules appointments as needed Communicates clearly on the phone and accurately documents and assigns messages Confirms and updates contact information for all patients at every contact Makes follow-up calls for any messages left Documents appointment visit status, including rescheduled, cancelled, confirmed, left voice message, or any other status appropriately Additional front office responsibilities as needed Perform other medical assistant duties as necessary
