In this role, the willingness to learn and be adaptable is absolutely essential.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>We are a Linux, Open Source, DevOps, and Kubernetes consulting company that utilizes a variety of tools to help clients in many industries in the areas of: server support, infrastructure design, cloud management, data backups, network security, disaster recovery, and more. We’re a team united by our daily habits of building trust, looking at the bigger picture, leaning into challenges, and being better today than yesterday.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Crafty Penguins is based in Lethbridge, Alberta, however, this job posting is fully remote.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>If you’re a person who is driven by creativity and getting results, then this role is made for you.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">You’re good at</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rising to challenges and solving technical problems with a client’s business in mind</li>\n<li>Thinking and working independently while collaborating with others to reach creative solutions</li>\n<li>Following existing processes while suggesting ways to improve them</li>\n<li>Communicating in a number of ways (writing and speaking) to both get things done and honour people</li>\n<li>Constantly learning – keeping your technology skills up to date with the industry norms, best practices, and upcoming technologies.<br></li>\n<li>Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and superior time management skills</li>\n<li>Ability to meet deadlines and self-manage your workload</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br>You have:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Advanced</span><span> </span>knowledge of Linux-based operating systems </li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Advanced</span> knowledge of Networking</li>\n<li>Experience using various cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCloud, Digital Ocean)</li>\n<li>Debugging problems with Unix based operating systems and IP based networking at a very low level.<br></li>\n<li>No problems working in either RHEL or Debian based linux distributions</li>\n<li>Good knowledge and experience with:\n<ul>\n<li>Debugging container based workloads, and their runtime tooling (LXC/D, Docker, Podman)</li>\n<li>Container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, etc.)</li>\n<li>Linux based hypervisor systems and related tooling (KVM, Xen/XCP-ng, Proxmox, etc.)<br></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Good scripting skills with Bash and Python</li>\n<li>5+ years experience doing the items above</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Extra awesome</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>You’ve worked at a company that does Linux consulting, or you’ve done this as a contractor</li>\n<li>You’ve used a ticketing system like ConnectWise or some other tool to manage tickets and track time<br></li>\n<li>Performance tuning, debugging, and clustering of Linux based Database Systems (MySQL, Postgresql, SQLite) and SQL in general</li>\n<li>High level networking skills - Campus / Enterprise networking, VLANS, VPNS, Managed switches, Overlay networks, Dynamic routing protocols.</li>\n<li>Software development experience in various languages<br></li>\n<li>Certifications on our platforms and products (AWS, Azure, K8S, RHEL, and the like)<br></li>\n<li>2-year technical diploma (CIS or CS) or greater</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you’ll do</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate and handle client requests</li>\n<li>Handling client system alerts</li>\n<li>Conducting client system patching and health checks</li>\n<li>Performing deployments via our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)</li>\n<li>Onboard new clients and create roadmaps for improving their infrastructure</li>\n<li>Time tracking for all hours worked</li>\n<li>Some afterhours will be required</li>\n<li>Have a ton of fun with an awesome team</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Why join us?</span></p>\n<p>Working at Crafty Penguins can accelerate your career and give you the opportunity to work with world-class talent.
