This high-technology plant will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology.&nbsp;</p><p>Ultium Cells&rsquo; partners include LG Energy Solution, Ltd.; the world&rsquo;s largest manufacturer of automotive battery cells, and General Motors; a global company committed to delivering safer, better and more sustainable ways for people to get around.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>&nbsp;Position Description &nbsp;</strong></p><p>The Safety Specialist II will focus on improving Health and Safety at the Ultium Cells facility by using his/her experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong H&amp;S culture. Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company H&amp;S standards and programs.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Job Responsibilities &nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Support implementation of site&rsquo;s process safety management program &nbsp;</li><li>Coach and train other employees and the plant leadership team about process safety requirements</li><li>Conduct daily line walks to ensure H&amp;S practices are being observed and to note any at-risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non-compliance with any H&amp;S related policies/regulations</li><li>Participate in design-in safety process by attending risk assessments, supporting Ultium&rsquo;s equipment commissioning process, and providing guidance to engineering and installation teams as needed</li><li>Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments</li><li>Develop and deliver safety training as needed</li><li>Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other H&amp;S related training topics</li><li>Engage with/provide guidance to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and support functions to support risk-reduction in the workplace</li><li>Ensure effective hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices</li><li>Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations</li><li>Lead emergency response drills and critiques</li><li>Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership</li><li>Evaluates workplace compliance regarding local, state and federal regulations&nbsp;</li><li>Lead cross-functional teams to drive improvements across the organization</li><li>Oversee one or more plant-wide safety and health programs and act as a champion of the sites workplace safety system</li><li>Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions</li><li>Actively participates in and supports the continuous improvement process</li><li>Perform radiation and industrial hygiene monitoring and sampling such as noise measurements, air sampling, temperature monitoring, air flow monitoring, confined space sampling, etc.</li><li>Supports implementation of the GM/Ultium Workplace Safety System</li><li>This role will support 2nd shift operations (~2pm-10:30pm) schedule subject to change&nbsp;</li><li><span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp;</span>Ability to work selected weekends, holidays, and rotation shift</li><li><span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp;</span>Additional duties as assigned</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications &amp; Competencies &nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field</li><li>3+ years of experience evaluating and improving Safety and Health programs in a manufacturing environment preferred</li><li><span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp;</span>Professional certification (GSP, CSP, CIH or ASP) preferred&nbsp;</li><li>Positive attitude, self-driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals&nbsp;</li><li><span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp;</span>Must be comfortable working in a diverse or multi-cultural team setting</li><li>Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA and state/local regulations and requirements&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to understand and interpret voluntary consensus standards&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstrated project management and problem-solving skills&nbsp;</li><li>Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical safety&nbsp;</li><li>Previous experience in a startup environment and Union setting is advantageous&nbsp;</li><li>Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports&nbsp;</li><li>Strong hazard recognition skills&nbsp;</li><li>Technical writing and presentation skills &nbsp;&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Total Rewards Information:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>We offer market-competitive compensation including base pay and incentive compensation opportunities based on the achievement of Company goals. &nbsp;We offer employees paid time off to refresh and recharge.
