The New HVN will improve infrastructure, prioritize safety and security, evolve the passenger experience, strive to exceed guest and neighbor expectations, deliver economic benefits to the region, and focus on sustainability and environmental impacts as our commitment to a better future at HVN.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong><u>POSITION SUMMARY</u></strong></p><p>The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of airport vehicles, equipment, and facilities. This role supports safe and efficient airport operations through preventive maintenance, emergency response, and general facility upkeep. Overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required based on operational needs.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong><u>DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</u></strong></p><ul><li>Inspect, maintain, modify, repair, and replace gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles, snow removal equipment, and motorized hand tools.</li><li>Diagnose equipment conditions, identify malfunctions, and determine appropriate repair solutions.</li><li>Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on vehicles, equipment, and airport infrastructure.</li><li>Operate and maintain heavy airport equipment, including snow removal equipment.</li><li>Maintain ARFF equipment in operational condition to meet FAA ARFF Index requirements.</li><li>Perform maintenance and repairs on airfield systems, including lighting, signage, and related infrastructure.</li><li>Support general airport maintenance activities such as snow removal, groundskeeping, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical or mechanical work.</li><li>Conduct routine inspections of tools and equipment to ensure safe operation and compliance with safety standards.</li><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.</li><li>Communicate effectively with airport personnel using a two-way radio.</li><li>Assist airport leadership during emergencies, inclement weather events, and special operational needs, including mandatory overtime situations.</li><li>Attend required training sessions, including initial and recurrent airfield driver training, and maintain airfield driving privileges.</li><li>Properly wear and maintain issued uniforms while on duty.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned by the Airport Maintenance Manager.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong><u>PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE &amp; QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p><p>Ability to perform the duties of this classification to Company standards, which includes, but is not limited to, passing, to the satisfaction of the Company, initial and periodic Company tests to ensure the initial and on-going maintenance of required level of proficiency.</p><ul><li>High School Diploma or GED required.</li><li>Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred.</li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain all licenses or certifications required by regulatory agencies.</li><li>Must meet applicable training requirements under FAR Part 139.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license required, with a driving record acceptable under Company insurance standards.</li><li>Ability to pass and maintain required TSA security clearances and drug screening in accordance with the Drug-Free Workplace Program (DFWP).</li><li>Minimum of three (3) years of experience repairing gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment; five (5) years preferred.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of automotive repair methods, materials, tools, and standard trade practices, including diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.</li><li>Ability to follow preventive maintenance programs and maintain basic shop or maintenance records.</li><li>Ability to safely operate heavy equipment, including snow removal equipment.</li><li>Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision in a complex operational environment.</li><li>Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos.</li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, management, and the public.</li><li>Willingness and ability to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response situations.</li><li>Basic mathematical skills and ability to apply common-sense reasoning to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong><u>COMPENSATION &amp; BENEFITS</u></strong></p><p><strong>Starting wage between $31.25 to $38.46 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.</strong> Avports provides a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time employees, including Medical, Dental, and Vision options, a Retirement Savings Plan, and Life, AD&amp;D, and Disability insurance.
