Tempel is looking to add a Strategic Account Manager to our team! The Strategic Account Manager will be responsible for growing sales and market share within assigned strategic accounts and territories. They will drive profitable growth and strengthen Tempel’s position as a trusted business partner for electric motor cores. This role requires strong relationship management, strategic thinking, and collaboration across multiple departments including Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Quality, and Customer Service. The ideal candidate will have started to develop a background within the automotive, motorsports, rail or aerospace industries, demonstrate exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and have a passion for developing long-term, value-based customer relationships.

Responsibilities
Manage and grow assigned customer accounts to achieve or exceed sales targets for volume, revenue, and profitability Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing accounts and through targeted prospecting Build and maintain strong customer relationships, serving as a key point of contact for day-to-day needs Respond to customer inquiries and coordinate with internal teams to provide timely and effective solutions Track and maintain customer activity, pipeline, and communications within CRM systems Develop and maintain customer forecasts, ensuring alignment with demand planning processes (e.g., Demantra) Support pricing and quoting activities, including gathering inputs, analyzing margin, and providing recommendations Assist in negotiating and maintaining customer agreements, including pricing and supply terms Monitor market trends and gather competitive insights to support business development and account strategy Partner with inside sales and customer service teams to ensure consistent and high-quality customer support Follow up on customer issues and complaints to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction Participate in customer visits, meetings, and industry events as needed Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards in all customer-related activities
Required Qualifications
Experience supporting customers in transformer, generator, or similar industrial markets Knowledge of electrical steel and fabricated products (e.g., laminations, toroids, wound cores) Understanding of electrical steel grades, properties, and applications Familiarity with fabrication processes, tolerances, and common production considerations Working knowledge of pricing, costing, quoting, and sales processes Experience with forecasting tools and demand planning systems
Desired Experience:
3-6 years of experience in account management within one of the industries mentioned above Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or equivalent career experience Experience in B2B sales and consultative or value-based selling approaches Negotiation, organizational, and leadership skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse teams and geographies Working knowledge of key markets such as automotive, motorsports, and aerospace Familiar using CRM systems (MS Dynamics, Salesforce, or similar) preferred
Work Environment:
This position requires approximately 50% domestic travel and residence within the TN, VA, NC region (home office). The Strategic Account Manager operates in a professional, fast-paced environment with frequent collaboration across departments and regular interaction with external partners and customers.
