Overview Job Summary Under direct supervision, operates various model shop tools and measurement equipment. Ability to fabricate a variety of precision parts and components used in test fixtures, specialty tools, and R&D prototype instruments. Assembles and assists in building engineering models and prototypes Responsibilities Key Accountabilities Able to read and understand engineering drawings and select proper tools and equipment in preparing machined parts. Programs CNC machines (with assistance as needed) to fabricate a variety of precision components. Program machines accordingly and adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality. Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces. Verify through measurements that machined parts meet the drawing specifications as needed. Troubleshoot CNC programs to address issues and make improvements as needed. Assemble parts according to design layouts with brief instructions. May be asked to assist in the assembly of early instrument prototypes. Keeps tools calibrated and equipment orderly and work area clean. Maintains safe operations and shall adhere to all Machine shop safety requirements, procedures, and regulations. Networking/Key Relationships Will interface with groups across the organization as needed. Qualifications Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the position: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent with Trade School training and a minimum of 4 years experience as a machinist. Skills & Capabilities: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and select optimum tools and processes according to required part precision levels. Familiar with programming Master Cam Lathe / Mill, 3D printer software, and Waterjet software. Familiar with Fanuc and G-Code code writing, interpretation, and manipulation Knowledge of current technologies needed for importing CAD files for conversion to CNC programs. Travel Requirements: None The houely range for this role is currently $31.00 to $39.00. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs. This role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave.
