This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while fostering a culture of safety among employees. The specialist will lead training initiatives, conduct audits, and collaborate with farm managers to reduce risk and improve workplace safety standards.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures specific to swine production environments</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and agricultural safety standards</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections across farms and facilities</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Design and deliver safety training programs for new hires and existing employees (e.g., animal handling, biosecurity, equipment use, chemical safety)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain training records and compliance documentation</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Collaborate with farm managers and supervisors to identify hazards and implement preventative measures</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Monitor and enforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Stay current with industry regulations, best practices, and emerging safety trends</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Lead emergency preparedness planning, including drills and response protocols</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Liaison with First Responders to support emergency responses to include farm layouts, staging areas, and employee capabilities.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety and employee well-being</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Occupational Safety, Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">2&ndash;5 years of experience in safety compliance, preferably in agriculture or livestock production</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and agricultural safety regulations</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Experience developing and delivering training programs</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ability to work independently and across multiple farm locations</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Proficiency in recordkeeping and safety management systems</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) certification</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Experience in swine production or livestock operations</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Combination of office and on-site farm environments</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Exposure to livestock, dust, odors, and varying weather conditions</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Frequent travel between farm locations may be required</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ability to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Capability to lift up to 50 pounds</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Comfortable working in confined spaces and around animals</li></ul></div>\n",
