    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>Human Resources announces openings for Orientation and Mobility/Vision Teachers&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>2026 ESY Orientation and Mobility/Vision Teacher</strong></p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>MULTIPLE LEVELS &amp; LOCATIONS&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Elementary Locations: Glebe (PreK Developmental), Innovation (MIPA),&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Fleet (DHH/Life skills/Interlude), Carlin Springs&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Secondary Locations: Kenmore MS and Wakefield HS, Shriver&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>July 6, 2026 through July 31, 2026</p>\n<p>Professional Days and Orientation: July 1, 2</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Qualifications:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have or be eligible for endorsement in Teacher of the Visually Impaired.</li>\n <li>Ability to travel between sites.</li>\n <li>Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS).</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Experience: &nbsp;</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assisting students with visual impairments in understanding their attitudes and those of others concerning their visual impairment.</li>\n <li>Providing training and support to parents of students with visual impairments to enhance their children's independence.</li>\n <li>Providing the teachers, staff, and family of students with visual impairment with information regarding their individual need, methodology, and strategies.<br>\n  Facilitating social integration and interaction with peers. Participate with other school personnel and agencies to secure job-related experience for students, Participate in transition planning.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Responsibilities Include:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform functional vision and learning media assessments on new referrals and three-year re-evaluations. Interpret eye medical reports as they relate to educational environments.</li>\n <li>Contribute to the development of the IEP with goals, modifications, learning styles. Recommend appropriate specialized evaluations as needed, such as low vision, orientation and mobility, psycho-social, and adaptive physical education.</li>\n <li>Consult with diagnosticians, classroom teachers, students, and parents concerning appropriate evaluations modification, and test administration.</li>\n <li>Assist in determining and procuring classroom equipment and materials necessary for the student with visual impairments to learn (brailler, low vision devices, assistive technology, computer) including ensuring necessary room modifications and lighting changes</li>\n <li>Provide the classroom teacher with information regarding the specialized strategies needed to teach&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Consult with other instructional staff to provide information to incorporate the expanded core curriculum into the entire instructional setting.</li>\n <li>Provide modified materials to the classroom teacher.
