Since its inception in 2004, M&J has grown into diversified provider of engineering, construction management, construction inspection, technology, and environmental services to a broad range of clients, including federal, state and city/local agencies, private owners, architects, engineers and contractors.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The <strong><em>Assistant Vice President</em></strong> oversees and directs construction management and civil engineering design teams at M&J. This leadership role ensures timely project completion, adherence to design requirements, and alignment with company standards. The position reports to the Senior Vice President or designated supervisor.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Develop and generate business with major state agencies and municipalities in Massachusetts (e.g., MassDOT, MBTA, Massport, MWRA, City of Boston, City of Cambridge).</li>\n <li>Lead and support engineering teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.</li>\n <li>Manage all future work in Massachusetts, including budgeting and strategic planning.</li>\n <li>Allocate resources to support operational and strategic initiatives.</li>\n <li>Ensure compliance with industry regulations and conduct regular audits.</li>\n <li>Communicate planning objectives and results to senior management.</li>\n <li>Conduct market research and identify growth opportunities.</li>\n <li>Cultivate strategic partnerships and lead initiatives to expand market share.</li>\n <li>Oversee recruitment, daily workflow, and project plan approvals.</li>\n <li>Ensure projects are completed within budget and efficiently.</li>\n <li>Establish and implement strategic direction for engineering and development.</li>\n <li>Align departmental actions with M&J’s business plan and vision.</li>\n <li>Implement engineering policies, standards, and security measures.</li>\n <li>Negotiate contracts and coordinate contractor work.</li>\n <li>Mentor mid-level directors and managers across engineering and operations.</li>\n <li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in <strong>Civil Engineering</strong> or a closely related field.</li>\n <li><strong>Professional Engineer (PE) license</strong> in Massachusetts.</li>\n <li>Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in engineering management or project leadership and 20 years of experience in the civil engineering/construction management industry.</li>\n <li>Proven experience working with Massachusetts agencies such as MassDOT, MBTA, or Massport.</li>\n <li>Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, teams, and complex projects.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline.</li>\n <li>Experience in business development and client relationship management.</li>\n <li>Familiarity with City of Boston, and City of Cambridge procurement processes.</li>\n <li>Experience mentoring engineering professionals and managing cross-functional teams.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of federal and state transportation and infrastructure regulations.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Salary range $200,000 to $225,000 depending on education, qualifications and experience</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Apply for this position through this job post/ATS or email your resume to [email protected].</p>\n<p>*Third-party recruiters and agencies need not apply.
