Founded in 1908, SMS is an international centre for girl-centered learning and leadership development, providing empowering education for girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 (boarding grades 7–12).  St. Margaret’s School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School offering the Diploma Program.<br><br>The Instructional Leader plays a key role in fostering a culture of achievement within a curriculum area, in alignment with the school’s Strategic Plan. Instructional Leaders contribute significantly to the success and ongoing development of the school and to the advancement of student learning and achievement.<br><br></p>\n<p>Instructional Leaders are integral members of the SMS Pedagogical Leadership Team. They are expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of current educational trends and a commitment to leading the implementation of high-impact teaching practices. This role supports students and staff through the inquiry, action, and reflection process, ensures alignment with IB expectations, and promotes student agency, academic integrity, and successful completion of high-quality culminating projects.</li>\n<li>Lead and coordinate the IB MYP Personal Project process.</li>\n<li>Support students and supervisors through project planning, development, and reflection.</li>\n<li>Ensure alignment with IB requirements, timelines, and assessment expectations.</li>\n<li>Coordinate supervisor assignments, student support, and project monitoring.</li>\n<li>Provide guidance on academic honesty, documentation, and reflective reporting.</li>\n<li>Communicate project expectations, deadlines, and processes to students, staff, and families.</li>\n<li>Support staff with resources, coaching, and moderation related to the Personal Project.</li>\n<li>Monitor progress and address barriers to successful project completion.</li>\n<li>Coordinate the submission, assessment, and showcase of Personal Projects.</li>\n<li>Review and strengthen the Personal Project process through feedback and continuous improvement.<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Instructional Leader</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support colleagues in developing high-quality programming within their disciplines, including interdisciplinary and experiential learning, to promote strong student engagement</li>\n<li>Contribute to the design and implementation of new initiatives within areas of expertise</li>\n<li>Model effective design and implementation of learning targets, unit plans, and year plans</li>\n<li>Collaborate with colleagues to create opportunities for enrichment and academic rigour</li>\n<li>Facilitate professional learning communities</li>\n<li>Attend and contribute to Curriculum Team meetings</li>\n<li>Promote and contribute to a positive school culture<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current and valid Teacher Certification through the Teacher Regulation Branch </li>\n<li>Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health, and executive functioning (required) </li>\n<li>Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or program coordination </li>\n<li>Proven ability to lead professional development and collaborate across teams </li>\n<li>Deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centred learning </li>\n<li>Background in counselling, educational psychology, or wellness education (asset but not required) </li>\n<li>Demonstrates exemplary teaching </li>\n<li>Demonstrates a proficient understanding of the BC curriculum </li>\n<li>Ability and desire to lead, to organize and to collaborate with others </li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills </li>\n<li>Embodies a growth mindset </li>\n<li>Experience working as part of a learning team, as well as leading change </li>\n<li>Commitment to and evidence of continued professional growth </li>\n<li>Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates integrity </li>\n<li>Actively support the vision, mission and values of our school </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Interested candidates are invited to submit an application package, including a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and professional references, through Bamboo HR.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Questions email <span><a href=\"mailto:[email protected]\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[email protected]</a></span></p>",
