Description

Your role: As a Game Designer at Aesir Interactive, you will be the bridge between abstract design concepts and tangible gameplay. You won't just write design documents - you will define, connect and build the features of our systemically driven games. You will interpret systems and mechanics through the lens of player feel and technical feasibility, producing playable prototypes in Unreal Engine 5 that justify your design choices. Working closely with system designers, artists, and programmers, you will ensure that gameplay systems are not only fun but also scalable and efficiently implemented. The kind of stuff you`ll be doing: Rapid Prototyping: Bringing mechanics to life using UE5 Blueprints to test feel, pacing, and flow. System Implementation: Translating design docs into functional game systems, ensuring a smooth hand-off to the programming team. UI/UX: Designing and scripting the technical backend of menus and HUDs to ensure a frictionless player experience. Input & Feel: Refining character control, camera behaviours, and input schemes for PC and Console. Validated Documentation: Creating and maintaining design documents informed and supported by prototypes created using Figma, UE5 or any other necessary tools. Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Working with programmers and artists to see through final implementation while maintaining the creative direction. Who are we looking for: You are passionate about delivering intuitive and elegant user experiences, with an eye for visual detail and a strong understanding of player behaviour. You are as comfortable in the Unreal Editor and you thrive on the iterative process of "fail fast, fix fast." 3+ years of experience in Game Design with a focus on technical implementation or rapid prototyping. A strong portfolio showcasing your design work, for PC/console titles. Experience shipping at least one commercial game title PC/Console. Proficiency with design and rapid prototyping tools like Figma. Advanced proficiency in UE5 and a deep understanding of the Blueprint visual scripting system. Solid understanding of UX principles, interface design, and user-centred design practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset. Main responsibilities Designing and implementing intuitive gameplay systems that communicate the creative vision. Building, testing, and iterating on prototypes based on team and player feedback. Defining interaction behaviors, player movement variables, and combat/system logic. Maintaining technical consistency and clean Blueprints and project structures. Additional responsibilities: Pushing standards and quality of game design within the studio. Defining and communicating best practices. Championing UX-led mechanics and system design. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of evolving industry standards for game design. The ideal candidate also has one more of the following: Advanced scripting skills or understanding of blueprints in Unreal Engine. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git) and other project management industry standards such as Jira and Confluence. What we offer: A 38-hour workweek, ensuring a healthy work-life balance. Relocation support if needed, making your transition to Munich seamless. The flexibility of remote work options, tailored to your individual needs and responsibilities. Free drinks, including soft drinks, coffee, tea to keep you refreshed and energized. Weekly fresh organic fruit basket for a healthy and happy team. Monthly credit card top-up of 50€ for added convenience*. Recharge your batteries after completing demanding tasks; play a game of table tennis or table soccer to invigorate your spirit. Exciting company-based events, offering knowledge transfer, fun activities, and opportunities for recreation. We pay for your train / public transport ticket and a subsidy for lunch* *After the probation period
