Description
Building the people that build the world
With platforms in HVAC and Detection and Measurement, SPX Technologies builds innovative solutions that enable a safer, more efficient, sustainable world. Through our RiSE talent development framework, we Reach, Identify, Strengthen, and Engage our employees to support them in their continued development. We’re a global company of problem solvers, collaborators, and innovators, and our businesses build solutions that impact the world.
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at SPX's very first campus.
This is a hands-on manufacturing engineering role for someone who enjoys being on the production floor, working directly with operators and technicians, solving problems in real time, and implementing practical process improvements. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work closely with production, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to improve manufacturing performance, support production needs, and develop scalable processes. Success in this role requires a strong presence on the manufacturing floor, collaboration with hourly teams, and a willingness to understand processes firsthand.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an engineer who enjoys solving problems where they happen — on the manufacturing floor — and who values working alongside operators and technicians to improve processes and deliver results.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities to SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
1. Hands-On Manufacturing Support & Continuous Improvement
Work directly with operators, technicians, and production leaders to identify production challenges and implement process improvements
Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor observing processes, troubleshooting issues, and supporting production teams
Analyze production data and manufacturing performance to identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, throughput, and product value
Conduct time studies, line balancing activities, and Lean assessments to improve flow and establish production standards
Lead problem-solving efforts with production teams to eliminate waste, improve ergonomics, reduce cycle time, and optimize processes
Support cost analysis activities and identify opportunities for productivity and efficiency improvements
2. Manufacturing Engineering & Technical Problem Solving
Support development and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, assembly methods, and production systems
Partner with operators and technicians to understand process constraints and develop practical solutions that improve safety, quality, and efficiency
Investigate process issues and provide hands-on technical support to production teams
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce cost
Assist with workstation design, assembly cell development, manufacturing layouts, and material flow improvements
Support implementation of engineering changes and assess impacts to manufacturing operations
Promote and maintain safe work practices throughout manufacturing operations
3. Project Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Support manufacturing improvement projects from concept through implementation
Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, operators, and technicians to execute process improvements
Participate in Kaizen activities and Lean initiatives focused on throughput, quality, safety, and operational performance
Support startup activities including equipment installation, line launches, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives
Monitor implemented changes and verify effectiveness through floor observations and performance data
Stay current on manufacturing technologies and proactively recommend improvements
